Braces.....?

I have had metal in my mouth for almost half of my life. My teeth were absolutely repulsive when I first started getting work done on them (Age 7). First came the bottom expander, then came the top expander, then came the bottom retainer, and then came the top retainer.. so on and so forth until at age 10 I got all my braces on. I have had my bottom ones on longer than my tops. My teeth have been really starting to look excellent, but my orthodontist keeps adding months and months on. I was told several times "next month they are coming off" for half a year. My bottom teeth are near perfect, my top look straight but when I run my tongue across them they still feel a little crooked. I am starting to get really fed up. My boyfriend just got his off, and now I feel even uglier.

Is there a way I can tell when my braces are going to come off, because, clearly my orthodontist has no idea.

HELP!! Thanks- If you need details just ask and i will post more!! %26lt;3

Braces.....?
EVEN THOUGH THEY MAY LOOK OK, THE DENTIST KNOWS WHAT'S BEST FOR YOUR TEETH. ARE YOU DOING WHAT YOUR SUPPOSE TO BEING DOING (WEAR RUBBER BANDS AND NOT BREAKING WIRES)? MAYBE YOUR TEETH ARE JUST MOVING AT A SLOW PACE.

DO YOU HAVE THE OPTION OF HAVING THE COLORED ONES THAT MIGHT MAKE IT MORE FUN.(MY DAUGHTER GETS HERS CHANGED EVER SIX WEEKS AND SHE LOVES IT, SHE CAN HAVE PINK %26amp; YELLOW, BLUE AND PURPLE ALL DIFFERENT COLORS). HAVE YOUR PARENTS TALK TO THE ORTHODONTIST TO MAKE SURE HE IS NOT JUST ADDING MONTHS ON FOR MORE PAYMENT.

GOOD LUCK!! AND DON'T WORRY YOUR NOT UGLY:-)
Reply:Although your teeth may look near perfect to you, your orthodontist is actually more concerned with how they fit together and work. Even if they look good, if your bite is off you will end up with toothaches and jaw problems. The fact that they look good is a good sign but unfortunately you may have a little more time to get your bite perfect also. Hang in there and good luck it will be worth it when you are done!
Reply:I must say that the longer you have them on the better.

Once taken off, your teeth move. And they move fast trying to get to where they used to be. I know, it happened to me. Even wearing my retainer did not help that much.

It seems like ages since you were not wearing braces but a few years is nothing compared to the rest of your life with straight teeth. Hang in there. Even after they are straight keep them on longer. It is well worth it.
