Braces???????????

so i hate my smile and been working on fixing it. i was orginally gonna get the invasline. but when i went back to the dentist i was told my normal orthodontist had left. the new one told me he doesnt know why they told me the invasline would be good for me. he says the normal braces would give me much better results and work alot faster too. so i'm getting clear braces. they already took pics and did molds of my mouth. so im wondering what else to expect? and did i make the right choice??

Braces???????????
Howdy,

Invisalign is a type of ortho tx who is reserved for a narrow range of orthodontic cases - usually the relatively simple cases due to the limitations of the custom trays. Plus - you have to wear them 24/7 (take them off when you eat and brush) and a lot of people ending up losing them when they take them off.

Overall - traditional braces do allow the orthodontist to have better control over mechanics and therefore - result in a better occlusion. Current orthodontic literature have articles that have studied the end results of Invisalign versus Traditional braces and usually - the studies have shown that, indeed - traditional braces typically have slightly better results in the same amount of time or shorter.

To answer your question: They already took records - not sure if your orthodontist has done the treatment plan conference yet - this is when he/she tells you what they plan to do and how long it will approx take. Anyhow - there will be a "bonding" appointment where they put your braces on you. No worries it never hurts. You'll never get a shot in an orthodontic office and after every adjustment - your teeth will be sore for about 2-3 days. Just take some tylenol and you'll be fine. Throughout treatment - you may be asked to wear some elastics (rubber bands) to help things along. Other than that - average ortho tx is anywhere from 1.5 yrs to 3 years but the average is 24 months.

You definitely made the right decision to pursue an esthetic solution to your teeth. Make sure you wear your retainers after treatment though so they can stay nice and straight! Best of luck.
Reply:i got the measurments first

then went back for before pics, x-rays, and molds

now i'm going back on Monday June 3rd to get to get the braces put on Report It

Reply:maybe you should get other orthodontist opinions. if your teeth isn't that bad it should be ok for invisalign.
Reply:People will not make fun of you. Trust me the end result will be well worth your efforts
Reply:The problem with the invisalign is you can remove them. So if you take them out at all during the day you are doing more harm then good. Alot of times the normal braces will work better than the invisalign for that reason alone.
Reply:I had braces for 2 years. Trust me, they aren't that bad. Some of the prettiest girls in school have braces. They're just a part of life. Invisalign bearly work. Believe me, my friends who got them have bad teeth. You'll be fine, and they're work fast.
Reply:You should have tried the Snap-On smile. It is cheap and most dentist have it. They take a mold of your teeth and then snap on a whiter brighter straighter smile. It is easy and painless. It helps straighten teeth while you are wearing a new one. They can make it look like a movie star smile! Go to snaponsmile.com for more info!
Reply:I had invisalign and I actually wished I had done braces instead. You will be fine with braces.
Reply:i had braces for almost three year just because i did not wear my rubber bands .as long as you feel comfortable and Fell like you made the right decision .
Reply:Normal braces are better i have seen my teeth shift and look better than ever.. i seen results in a couple of weeks
