Braces!!!???

im getting braces on friday and i was wondering about a few thing. how do they put the braces on? does it hurt? how long does it take? wat foods can't i eat? wat colors should i get? im am in my teens so help me out

Oy vey, braces. It hurt kinda for the first time to get it, but you'll eventually get used to it from my experience. It REALLY hurts when you tighten it and put spaces. They put it on by putting a little bit of glue to hold the brackets onto your teeth and put the wire in. Most likely when you go there, you'll have to get spaces first. It's time consuming, taking about 1 hour or more depending if you're willing to cooperate. (My advice to you is to get a nice dentist/orthodontist before your braces appointment because mine's mean and if you don't cooperate with him, the next thing you know, your gums feels as though they're on fire. Once you get a dentist, you can never switch.) You can't eat sticky foods or later it'll get caught up in your braces (like gum, caramel, etc.) and hard foods (like carrots, toffee, or pretzles). You should get the colors that you like the most, you can get up to 2 choices of colors. (I chose pink) Tips for you is to keep your spaces on as long as you can to not have it placed in again the next time, no matter how much it hurts or irratates you, don't eat anything you're supposed to eat when you have them, and take a Tylenol if you feel like your mouth is going to explode. I wish you the BEST of luck and hope that you don't have to have them on for 2 years....(like me). Cross my fingers!%26lt;3

When I got mine in for the first time... I swear to you I cried! So did my cuzin.. it's so pathetic cuz I'm not even that young! lol.





The first time you go, they'll just set the brackets in your teeth and glue the little hook- looking things onto each tooth.


(That wont hurt at all, it's just to get you accustomed to having them in.. It will feel sooo weird, but before you know it you'll be used to them)





(Usually) a month later you'll go back and they'll put rubber bands on each bracket (on each tooth) --- That SH!T is gonna hurt!! You're teeth are going to feel this constant pressure and you wont be able to chew anything for at least two weeks (for most people)





The good news is that every time you go back (each monthly appointment) it will hurt for a lot less time. Like the first time I went it hurt for the entire month and I couldn't bite down on anything with my front teeth-- not even bread -- I was chewing on my wisdom teeth. But I've had them in for a year now and when I go to the orthodontist, it only hurts for about 2-3 days really bad and then the discomfort is gone.


It hurts, but it's worth it.





As far as colors, i used to get pink (its my fave) but now I usually just get grey. You're probably gonna be eating a lot of soup, get ready -- you're about to lose a lot of weight!
Reply:i just got my braces yesterday, and i suggest that it will hurt A LOT if you dont put wax on right away. i fi knew that it would have really helped. But besides that, its really just learning to eat and get used to them... good luck
Reply:dont eat any hard foods. it will just be painful and great amusement for everyone else. when you get something to eat, think of soft foods: oatmeal, jello, soup, mashed potatoes. pretty much anything that doesn't require much chewing.
Reply:im not sure how they put the braces on but it does hurt a little. u wont be able eat caramels thats for sure. blue and purple are cool. not white though. i heard they turn yellow and it looks gross
Reply:my friend said that it doesnt hurt when they put them on. it will hurt for about a week after you get them on. my orthodiontist said that it takes about an hour to an hour and a half to put them on. no popcorn, chewy candy, or gum. im probably going to get a sky blue and i nice light pink, maybe blue and lime green or possibly purple and yellow.... i've still got a while before i get mine put on.


good luck with those braces. just remember that the pain is worth the results.
Reply:I have braces and let me tell you, it hurts so bad when they first put them on! The glue the little metal things onto your teeth and there are these big rings that they cement onto your molars. Next, they put the wires on and secure them with the rubber bands, unless you have the "new and improved" braces which don't have rubber bands. I think that lighter colors like pinks and reds are better rubber band colors than blues and greens. When I got blue and green as my colors, I looked really messed up. I hope this helps!
Reply:its not going to hurt like he.ll (hint to the first answer) just the day after they will be sore ! i ate everything i wasn't supposed too hehe. it took about an hour when i got mine. and i'd say get hot pink and teal ! thats the colors i got when i first got mine.


but all ppl are diff. with the pain/soreness. mine wasn't bad at all...but you might ask your mom for a motrin/tylenol b4 yooh go to bed that night when you got them on,and def. one in the moring !





but trust me,the end results are amazing. my teeth are straight and prettaayyy !
