does it hurt more if your teeth are really crooked and u get braces. does braces hurt in general like when do they hurt. im getting them next year and i am kinda nervous of the pain.
Braces!!!!!?
Okay I'm going to be completely honest, the ortho will tell you there will be some "discomfort" Well that's an understatement. It doesn't hurt while they are putting them on or adjusting them, which they do about once a month. But a few minutes after they adjust them it hurts...all night....actually for a a day or two. I always took Advil to ease the pain and I had to eat soup and mash potato's for a few days. It doesn't matter if your teeth are really crooked or and a few teeth that are crooked, the pain will be the same. Oh and you will get blisters in the inside of your mouth the entire time you have braces, and sometimes they hurt really bad. They give you wax for that though. Anyone who tells you that it doesn't hurt is lying.
Reply:Don't be nervous they'll only be on your teeth and teeth are strong!
Reply:theyll hurt pretty bad for the first few days, then for a day or so every time you get them tightened. the more often you get them tightened youll get used to it and it wont hurt as much
Reply:It really shouldn't matter if your teeth are crooked or not. Braces usually (from y experience) only hurt the first 5 days or so after being put on. Mind you this applies to new appointments as well. Get a new wire, 5 days of pain. The worst about it is that you can't eat solids, it's not too bad if you're teeth arent doing anything
Reply:There will be some pressure and discomfort at first The first week or so you may have to eat softer foods. You get used to it though. They will adjust them once a month and it is not that bad. It doesn't hurt getting them put on.
Reply:It does matter if your teeth are not straight. I've had braces before. Sometimes there is so much pain, but with time you will get used to it. I was embarrassed when I didn't have braces because my teeth were not straight at all. Just think in three or four years, you will have great looking teeth. Is that worth the pain?
Reply:Idk but I'm with ya! I have to get braces, too and I am scared. EVERYONE I know has or had braces and they never said it doesn't hurt. My sister, me and my sister's friend are the only people I know that has not had braces! It only hurts for a couple days from what I heard!

Reply:They dont really hurt. I had them and they hurt when they were putting them on and for the first 3 days and thats it, when I got them tightened it maybe hurt for 1 day. It wasnt bad at all!!! I wouldnt worry about it!
Reply:Braces dont hurt when they put it on, but after a few minutes they finish putting it on....it would hurt and yes depending how your crooked your teeth are..... and brobally you wont even eat nothing.....the pain would stop, but in a couple of days,,,,then on your next dentist appointment they would thight your braces again but the pain would stop earlier.
Reply:Hurts a little bit... if you're getting rubber bands they hurt a little. Whe you get them tightented it's a little uncomfortable. Good luck!!!
Reply:They will hurt on the first 3 days or so but they will stop hurting, but it will all be worth it in the end when you have perfect teeth. Believe me. I got mine off august 2005 and I have gotten complements of me having nice teeth.
Reply:yes, if your teeth are more crooked you're probably going to endure more pain because they would have to move more teeth around
and you would probably have them on longer, as well.
gaps are very easy to fix,
I had MANY and i only had to wear my braces for a year.
honestly though, you have your teeth for the rest of your life
and one year of annoyance is worth having a beautiful smile for life.
good luck
and remember to keep wax with you at all times just incase anything pokes.
OH and if brackets fall off (mine always did)
keep them in a zip loc bag and bring them to your dentist
cuz they charge if you need to use another one.
Reply:Braces are no problem... I have the same problem as you, and spacers are the worst part, they arent that bad, after a few days(spacers). For a few days your mouth will be sour, but only sour. At first you cant eat anything.( what I mean is that you wont want to).So don't be nervous about the pain, just take advil before you go and bring/wear chap stick. There isn't really a lot of pain, just sourness. And oh yea, make sure your gums are VERY healthy, that determins most of the pain/irritation of spacers and braces.
Reply:No matter what, they're gonna hurt pretty badly for the first few days.
Afterwards, you'll get used to them and hardly remember you have them in your mouth.
They'll also hurt for a day or two when you go to get them tightened.
Overall, it's pretty painless.
Don't worry about it :]
