Braces....?

Do braces hurt? TRUTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If they do wut hurts about them? and wut is the worst part bout braces? i want 2 know everything!

They hurt for the first couple of days when you first get them and hurt everytime they tighten them but other than that, it's not painful.





When I had braces, the worst part was getting food stuck in your braces. That really annoyed me. Also flossing. I hardly flossed when I had braces because it would take so long.





It's not too incredibly bad though. Just remember that once you'll get them off, your teeth will straight and perfect!
Reply:Yes when they are being adjusted they are sore for 2 days, when you first get them on they are sore, and if you get hit on the mouth on accident (like a basketball or something) than your braces go into your lips depending on how hard the impact was.
Reply:Braces doesn't hurt AT ALL the only time you'll feel a lil pain is when they tighten them [that only last a couple of mins] and the day after you get then put on...

Reply:i had braces a long time ago the only time they hurt is when they get tightened once a month but it only lasts through the night

the only two things i didn't like about them were that they scratch the inside of your mouth sometimes, and when you first get them it makes your mouth kind of sore. it didn't hurt though. once you get them off, your teeth will be so straight, it will feel slimy xD





and you CAN eat gum!

Reply:hey im 14. i just now got my braces off. i had them things for 4 years!


they didnt hurt tht bad, only when the wire wasnt cut short enough in the back and poked my cheek on the inside and tht rubbed sore places in my cheek. thts about it. if yer getting braces, brush after every pop you have if its brown or red. those stain teeth awful! i have white marks were under one of my brackets were and it WONT COME OFF! its just there. but they arent painful and the procedure to get them off is very exciting. VERY worht it

Reply:Yes, they do hurt. But, not as badly as everyone would have you to believe. They don't hurt 24/7, but only after you get them tightened. They'll ache deep down for about two days. I'd suggest to use Advil for those couple of days! Adios
Reply:well, they dont' really hurt when they are put it. it's just that the metal scratches or rubs against the insides of ur lips and the sides of your mouth. it might scratch or cut it, but it's ok. the dentist gives u this wax thing where you could put against the metal and it won't scrape against ur lips.
Reply:first braces to NOT hurt at all, your teeth might be sore when oyu get them on, but then they feel like your normal teeth.the worst part is having to brush harder and take more responisblity for oyu teeth. Other than that tehri cool with all the colors and styles!but you gums will hurt very bad for a few days.But i odnt know why you cant have specific foods, you can have all kinds of food!also they somtime get stuck to your lip or gums!





ps. tehy might hurt when oyu get them super-duper tightened

they are sore after you get them tightened every mont, but tylenol or advil makes it all better.


sometimes they rub against your lips and cheeks and make sore spots, but your orthodontist should give you wax to put over your braces in the spots where it rubs.


it sucks to have dental work done with them, like fillings and such, but whatever, it won't make it hurt.





worst part:


you always have food in your braces. and flossing is really hard.








best part, you have the straightest teeth ever!





think about it, if they hurt as bad as everyone says, why wouldn't they just make better ones? they are just annoying, not painful.
Reply:No they don't hurt. You do feel a little tugging and minor minor pain when you first get them and when you get them tightened. I'm getting mine off in two months and I hate them! Just so you know don;t get yellow, white, or clear as the colors. They stain! Good luck!
Reply:yes they do hurt when u get them tightened, i remember i couldn't even bite into a soft sandwhich for two days after i got them tightened every month, it feels like your whole mouth is tight and u can't really do anything about it. worst part is that sometimes the metal cuts ur gums or the inside of ur lips but the orthodontist gives u wax so u can put over the metal. dont' worry because in the end u will have a beautiful smile!!! Oh yea and its fun to choose different colors for the rubber bands every month i used to get pink for february cuz of valentines day, and orange and black for october cuz of halloween and red and green for christmas in december, so rememeber to have fun with it

but you get use to them after a while %26amp; in the end if you wear the night brace %26amp; retainers too you will have beautiful teeth

Reply:I have braces. They dont hurt at all on a regular basis except when you get them titened but it will only hurt for about a day. The worst part of braces is probably getting food stuck in them just make sure you spend alot of time brushing and everything should be ok. Now braces are actually quite cool you can even pick and choose your colours. Best of luck :)
Reply:nooo they didnt hurt when getting them on they just started to hurt for like two days when i first got them on then they will be fine and they also hurt when you get them tightin and if you get ruber bands and or a chain but the answer to your question is yes and no o yea you kno how they say dont chew gum well i did and it didnt mess up anything and i pretty much did everything they said not to and i never broke a bracket so if you play sports i recomend you gettin a mouth guard because if you get hit in the face it will hurt really bad unless you have a mouth guard hope this helps
Reply:Bottomline is that they do hurt, and it all depends on how you progress n the amount of it hurting. and most of the pain comes from the moving of the roots because thats the whole point of having braces.
Reply:I just got braces!! They hurt mainly when you eat and they rub your gums and lips and that hurts. I suggest lots of wax (ask for extra i've used almost all of mine in not even a week!!!) They don't hurt too much when your not eating, but if they do and before you eaat take some advil or whatever you normally take as a pain reliever.

Reply:I had braces for 3 and a half years. When I first got them, I couldn't eat for a week. I had soup and stuff. They hurt super bad the first week, but after that, you get used to them. When you get rubber bands, it will hurt like crazy again for about 5 days. I thought the worst part about braces was how food got stuck in them. The best part was after I got them off, my teeth are now perfect and white. But now I have to wear a retainer.

Reply:omg i just got mine on wednesday!! they do not hurt as bad as i thought, they only hurt when you try to eat something. for like the first 2 days i had nothing but milkshakes cuz i couldnt eat. and they scratch up the inside of your lips a little. but the pain lasts for only like two days. now they dont hurt at all and i seriously keep forgetting i have them!!! and thats the trhuth!!! the worst part is not being able to eat for a little while. but its not much pain at all as long as you dont try to eat anything that is not really soft like ice cream or yogurt. and thats bery little pain to go through for something that will fix your teeth and give you a beautiful smile for the rest of your life!! good luck=)
Reply:they are sore for the first week then you get used to them. the first week it feels like you can feel your teeth moving and you don't want to talk the brackets give you sooo many kankor sores(sry if i spelt they wrong)lol but ice cream and smoothies were my best friend. lol
