Braces...?

To fix a diastema (front teeth gap), do i have to get top and bottom braces. Isn't possible to only get top braces because my dentist is saying in order to fix my teeth (and cross bite), they would need to remove one incisor (bottom teeth) and then put on my braces?

Braces...?
well if they are removing a bottom tooth all the other bottom teeth will shift to fill the space. also, because he is fixing a bite problem your teeth will just fit together better.
Reply:I started with only a top set of braces but then as soon as I was almost done with it they realised I had an under bite so I had to do both... just do both it will be easier on you now then trying to to the work two seperate times... and longer
Reply:I had that problem too... They put top ones on first and I had those for a while my bottom teeth were fine but I had an over bite. So they put bottom ones on so I could where bands.. I would just do whatever he wants to do... because they know what they are doing.

Hope this helps...
Reply:most likely they will put bottom braces on,

because it would be needed to fix your cross bite,

but not in all cases.

so just ask your ortho and if you don't want them,

try your best to not get them.

however,

if you need them,

i suggest getting them,

they will help in the long run.
