Braces????

Do clear braces really work!! Cuz i dont want the metal ones..but i do want clear braces?? do they work

If you are talking about Ceramic Braces they work the same as metal ones and take the same about of time for the treatment. They are a little more fragile than traditional metal ones though but as long as you follow your dentists instructions and be sure not to eat sticky or chewy foods they work great. If you are talking about Invisible Braces such as Invisalign they work but are a pain and many Orthodontists don't offer them. Also if your Orthodontist does offer them he most likely won't recommend them unless you teeth are only slightly off. I recommend the Ceramic Braces if you don't want metal. I had the metal braces first, then had to get them again a few years later and took the Invisalign route. They worked great, except I had to get new molds done for them all the time. And they kind of smell and turn yellowish, even if you clean them intensely, like I tried.





You can also, get brackets that are clear and then all you can see is the wire running across your teeth. I don't know much about those, but I'm sure they're good.

Reply:I just asked the same question last week.... Clear braces do work (I have a friend that couldn't be happier about them), and I thought getting it myself. However, they didn't work with every problem. They will say that they do, but it take longer, and the results might not be as good as the metal braces. Both kind of braces would have cost me the same amount of money, but I decided to pick the metal braces since I would have to wear it less time than the clear kind. In short, they do work, but you need to make sure that the metal is not better for you on the long run. Check out dwight braces if you are concerned about the metal. They are pretty small. Good luck!

Reply:Sure! I think they do. I think clear braces are made as an option for those who doesn't want to make their braces more obvious. I had friends who had clear braces but they didn't seem to have any problems. But just ask your dentist for more infos.
Reply:no my orthodontist said they take longer and the clear retainers stretch out quickly. they are less efficitent. but i also wanted the clear ones till he kept tllng me how ineffective they were. but that was 5 or 6 years ago so maybe they've changed. i didnt liek the metal ones but you get used to them and i only have them on for a year and a half when they were supposed to be on for over 2 years. they arent that bad... just follow the directions that they give ytou and you will be fine. !
