Braces.......?

OK, Im off to my dentist when my mum can get me a appointment to get mesured for braces. what do they do, Ive heard they put clay in ur mouth then have to wait a bit to get braces made.. is this true

yeah. they get a mold of your mouth, and then set an appointment for later to actually get your braces. but for now they'll probably give you spacers, if you haven't already got them. unless you're teeth aren't crowded. but yeah, its not that bad.

Reply:Yeah they fill this mouth piece up with clay stuff and stick it in your mouth to make impressions. just a little warning, it tastes very bad and and when they put it in your mouth the mouth piece makes you gag.

its like this rubber mould.. it dosnt take very long u only have to wait a couple of weeks before they get up in

Reply:braces will line up the teeth and the results are that you will have trouble free teeth with cheaper dental bills.





So it is worthwhile doing.





Also help you keep trim while you are growing as its difficult to eat.
Reply:I have braces and before I got them, the orthodontist took pictures, x rays and then the mold. You have to sit in the chair while you bite into a metal thing that has the mold inside. It isn't clay, but a fast drying paste sort of thing that dries after about a minute into a solid. It tastes like mint. You also get "spaces" which are little rubber bands that they slide between your molers. They stay in about a week before they put the braces on.
Reply:yea they do, it isnt painful at all, it just kind of feels wierd. Its like have a mouth gaurd in, nothing painful.
Reply:for me, I had to go through alot before I was able to have braces. I had to get a palet expander which took quite a while, then I finally was able to go to my orthodontist and they did the whole clay thing to make a model of what your mouth looks like so they can design braces for you. They will probably put spacers in there which are tiney bands that go between your teeth. It might hurt, so just try to lay off some of the hard foods for a bit. Then when you get the braces on it will probably hurt for a day or two until you get used to them, then its easy flyin from there. Just don't worry about it =]]
Reply:i dont really think its clay its a molding stuff but its not texured like clay and if im right they flavor it. at least they flavored mine





umm the thing about spacers yea they suck! they make u wanna bite down really hard on ur teeth cause they hurt and if one falls out dont panic about it that means its job is done.
Reply:Clay ???? Lol they don't put clay in your mouth at all. Whoever told u that is lieing. When I had it done they put little gause things in my mouth to obsorb all the saliva in my mouth. They but these big metal things on the molars and put brackets on every other tooth. with special glue. It tastes really bad too lol but don't worry they give you really nice minty water after it's all done. they ask you what colours you want too by giving you a little key ring thing that has plasic coloured things. After you have your braces on they show you a video of what you can and can't eat during the process. That's what they did for me. (they might not do this though.) they will give you a little case that contains all your brushing needs. I go to a private orthodontist. So It may be different to public. But dw too much it will be fine don't you worry :)

Reply:I currently have braces, and all they do in put this toothpastey thing into a mould and ask you to squeeze and then they rake it out and send it off to get the right braces for you. Also while you are there, they look inside your mouth and take xrays and pictures of your teeth. It doesn't hurt. it is all over in about 40 minutes to an hour. Then you come back to get the braces on which takes 2 hours, because you are sitting and waiting half the time. Hoped this has helped.
Reply:yes it is like a clay- they put it into your mouth hold it for about 30 seconds and take it out, it will be the shape of your mouth after that dependign on what ytour orthodontist is like it shouldnt be too long! oh and when they do they clay it is uncomftorable but doesnt hurt!
