Braces!!!!?

I just got braces and i was wondering if it would take long before i get them removed. I don't have any major problem i basically got them because i had spaces . I was wondering if age can affect the time it takes for the braces to come of??


Also what other thing can affect time and does anyone know a really good pain killer because my teeth are really sensative?? Thanx so much

Age does not affect how long you will have your braces for. The time depends on how crooked your teeth are and whether you have an overbite or underbite and how extreme it is if you have one.





Plain old advil or ibuprofen will make your teeth feel better but you will get used to it after a day or two and you won't feel any pain.





As long as you don't drink soda or eat chewey, sticky stuff, your brackets won't break, and you won't need to have them on longer.





braces usually take somewhere between a year and a half and four years, depending how knarly your teeth are.





I had mine for about two and a half years because my teeth weren't all that crooked but I had a massive overbite.





Don't worry about it, kid. They will be off before you know it and you'll be thankful for the beautiful smile you'll have afterwards. (although I'm sure it's already cute in a homely sort of way)

Sometimes it takes 2-6 months.


SOmetimes it even takes a couple years.

as for painkillers, i jus take a tylenol
Reply:Advil, people out of puberty it takes longer because the teeth are set in and the bone is attached to the tooth.





And unless you have a herbst (like me) or any headgear, YOU CANNOT COMPLAIN I HAVE GONE THROUGH HELL!!!!!

Reply:i had my braces on for 2 years, my teeth wernt bad at all either. i had to get them cause i had an impacted tooth. but i know when i used to get them tightened/re-ajusted it hurt, bad. they used to give me this rubber thing to chew on and it helped the pain .. ask for one
Reply:yeah i got braces in january and i didnt think that my teeth were that crooked. but i went to the orthodontist the other day and he said a year to 18 months more!!!


just eat soup for like the first three days or until they stop hurting. and advil works great.
Reply:Take some advil that should help the pain. Ask your ortho when your braces will come off.
Reply:it just depends on the person. usually 2-4 years. i had mine on for 4 years only because i never wore my rubber bands for my overbite.
Reply:all the pain reliever in the world couldn't help u wait for 3-4 days it will go away. you just got them off it'll take about 1-2 years. sorry i have braces to!!lol :)
Reply:I had braces because i had a bad overbite, and it took me around 2 years to get it to something better. Your problem is probably not so bad as mine, so maybe "only" 1 year or so....it mostly depends on how bad the spaces are, or the composition of your teeth and jaw, because sometimes the shape can complicate the treatment and you'll be wearing them longer.





The first night when I got my lower braces it was so painful I couldn't even sleep, but then I took some Tylenol and it was so much better.





(I also got a permanent split in my inside lower lip because the archwire--the wire that connects the brackets on your teeth--somehow kept cutting into my lip even though I never sleep on my stomach. But if they have any sense they'll give you orthodontic wax to put over the brackets so it won't happen.)





GOOD LUCK, don't worry, you'll get used to the brushing and flossing. It'll be okay in a few weeks!
Reply:depends are the spaces big? if yes then at least 2 to 3 years no pain killers if only makes he pain worse i just got braces to! we have something in common and mine hurt like crazy right nown! and um i had gaps but theywerent that big medium sized so i have them on for 3 years. all depends..
Reply:i just got my braces put on this morning LoL, it didn't hurt at first , just felt wierd...........now its starting to hurt...my ortho-person told me to take tylenol for the pain and some sugar free gum to help with the pain, my teeth are really crowded in the front, ortho-person said it will take like 18 months, so yeah, just depends on the patients, for spaces..........i would say like 12 -14months?

Anyways, it usually takes 2 years for them to come off. ask your orthodontist how long it will take to get them off for you.
