Braces?????????

I have had braces since last may and I just had a pokey wire so I went to the orthodontist and they cut off the pokey wire. It had been poking me for over 2 months causing my mouth to bleed and hurt... ALOT!!! So about 2 weeks after I got the wire cut my wire is poking me again!! But worse than before!! I can't use wax because it is in the very back of my mouth and it won't stick because there is too much spit!! It hurts like HECK!!! And I am not going to the orthodontist again for another month!!! :(


Advil or tylonal doesn't help the wire from grabbing onto the side of my cheek and ripping of my skin!! It hurts sooo bad!!! Anyone know what to do?!

Call your orthodontist and make an appointment to see him or her. You don't need to wait until your next appt. for a poking wire. They will probably get you in that day.
Reply:mine did that too. Just try to use the tip of your nail to push the wire untill its even on both sides....


if that doesnt work, then you have to give dental wax one more shot. try your best to dry the wire as much as possible before putting ALOT of it on

Reply:that same thing happened to me luckily i get mine off on the 20th im so excited but i just went to the ortho and got it cut..they will understand they dont want you to be in pain
Reply:Yes, i had braces for 2 years and the best thing to do is to make an emergency apointment to cut the wire. Im sure they will schedual you in. You shouldnt have to suffer like that!
Reply:That has happened to me, too! The easiest thing to do is schedule an emergeny appointment. Just try to call your orthodontist and set a time. All you will have to do is go in and they will cut the pokey wire off and voila!
Reply:if you can't get a sooner appointment you just gotta cut it yourself cuz nothing else will make it better soon enough. sanitize some wire cutters in alcohol and get help from a responsible adult. but don't worry if you can't do that it wont poke all the way through your cheek.
Reply:yes make an appointment,they will fix it.never try to fix this on your own or let someone else mess with this only your orthodontist,after all you spending a lot of money to look your best,don't let someone else mess it up for you by trying with pliers or what ever.two of my children had braces and both had the same problem.it will be OK just keep going back.
Reply:take a toothpick or something like it and push it back in a little or bend the other way it helped me
