Braces?????????

i'm getting braces on in two days and i was wondering if they hurt b/c i dont want braces. i didnt even think i need braces until a month ago. i need them because the last tooth is crooked, so does it hurt and for the color band thing shoukld i get hot pink??:???? cause pink is my fav color

I got my braces on yesterday so i can tell you. when they put it on you feel nothing. except when they stretch your mouth open with that thing. you'll find out soon enough. afterwards during at night, you'll start to feel soreness. the next day will hurt A LOT like H E DOUBLE L and i'm serious. sorry if i'm scaring you but that's the truth. take some advil. it will reduce the pain, but not much. the pain will surely go away within the week or maybe 2 weeks. it depends on you.


for the color bands, they give you samples to choose from. and anyway every time you go to the dentist for a checkup they change the bands so yeah. you can alternate the colors or you can go with the whole pink deal. it's really up to you. i got purple and they look great! if you really want to know what hot pink will look like go to here and you can try on all different colors!! http://www.pbhs.com/ortho/braces/braces....

Reply:it doesnt hurt when they put on the braces. afterwards it might hurt, and it will be hard to chew for a while but you get used to it quick. just take asprin or tylenol and you will be ok. get whatever color you like, when you go back to get the braces tightened you can change the color.
Reply:Hey. I got my braces on last year. They dont hurt at all when they put them on. Your gums are just really sore afterward. Prepare to take the afternoon off and rest. You will need plenty of Tylenol. Best of luck!
Reply:Having had numerous orthodontic devices in my mouth i can say that braces are no big deal. Your teeth may feel tender for like 1-2 days but that's about it. There is no real pain involved. I wore braces for like 2 years and they never bothered me. The orthodontist will change the wire occasionally to make them tighter to straighten your teeth but the only thing will happen is that tender feeling may/may not come back for like a day or so. And as far as the colors go...Rock that hot pink! I had many colors over the course of my braces wearing and it was cool! :) Hope that helped!
Reply:well.. ok... the day you get them on does not hurt... the brackets (things glued on your teeth) dont hurt at all.. it is the wire that hurts like crap.. The best thing to do is to go out before your appt and get soft foods... like jello, ice cream, instant mashed potatos, ect.. then the day of the appt. i would take some advil/tylonal. This will help with the pain.. You will not be able to eat anything hard pretty much the rest of the day and the next day.. and for the band colors.. i have never had hot pink but i think it would look fine. hot pink and green work really well as well as hot pink and black.. the colors will be change every time you have an appt.. so if you dont like them that time just change them the next time you are there...
Reply:only about after they put them on. my ortho had to remove my tissue yesterday and i got braces too that day so he gave me laughing gas and numbed the area. it took 1 hour for the braces and 20 mins for the cutting so i sat there for 80 mins.i will be wearing braces for 18 months. i hate dr. wells so much.
Reply:depends on how your teeth are to be honest. But when i got my braces in, it really didn't hurt .and my teeth weren't really bad Untill later on that day, since braces move your teeth, your going to feel soreness for a few days. Just have cold and soft stuff. I wouldnt get pink lol. I went with gray bands at all times, to blend with the braces. but it's up to you.
