Braces????

Do you have braces? what color? how old are you? how long have you had them? when are you getting them off?

Braces????
My son is 11 and in 6th grade and he will be getting them put on in March! I told him to chew a lot of gum NOW! ha ha
Reply:i had braces from 6th grade to eighth grade in every color imiaginable. i hade them from age 11 to age 13.
Reply:i have braces :]

i've had them for two years and i'm about to get them off (im 14 now)

they really don't hurt at all with wires being tightened. the elastics do hurt for a bit but you forget you're wearing them after a while. and right now mine are light blue :]
Reply:I currently have red braces. I am 19 years old and have had braces for 3 years. Mine will be off in April this year!!!
Reply:i have silver braces because my braces don't have rubber bands, i have had them one year and am getting them off within the next 6 months

i'm 13
Reply:yes; dark blue; 13; 3 1/2 years; next week!
Reply:My braces are navy blue. I got them in April of.. seventh grade... so almost three years ago, and I get them off on Feb 15th! :D
Reply:yer i have braces

Braces.......?

if i do need braces i am scared about having teeth out. Why do they need to pull ur teeth out anyway?

Braces.......?
Sometimes you have a few teeth that are obstructing any work that you need done, and until they are pulled out, your teeth and jaw cannot improve.

Don't worry, they numb you before they pull it out. You don't even notice whats happening, honest. (well im telling you from experience)

And don't even waste a moment worrying about braces. Almost all teenagers go through it at some stage, for different periods of time, and we're all in the same boat. Just think of how amazingly beautiful your teeth will be like once your dental work is complete.. =]
Reply:well, you dont always need to get your teeth pulled, but they do this because if your teeth are crouded, some teeth are needed out to set the teeth into place, most of the time its just one tooth needed out
Reply:youll be fine!

they do it because the tooth is not needed

dont worry
Reply:IF they do take out youre teeth its because they need to spread your teeth out so they need to make space. Dont worry ddo it only hurts a little bit.. and think of the result of the braces afterwards.
Reply:i had two teeth pulled out for my braces. 10 years on and i still dont miss them.
Reply:Don't worry I had braces for almost six years, they are not that bad!! my jaw was really tiny in comparison to my teeth (although my teeth are one of the smallest teeth around) so they had to remove 4 teeth from the back. One from each corner of my jaw. It's not painful, though the aenasthetic makes ur lips and face really numb so u feel weird. But now I have a beautiful smile, so it was very worth it!
Reply:I Have To Have 5 Teeth Out For My Brace

I Went To The Dentist But Couldn't Have Them Out Because I Couldn't Breath As I Was So Scared (I Have A Phobea Of Injections) So I Got Reffered To A Dental Hospital

It Alot Less Scary

Hope I Helped And Good Luck
Reply:It depends on what your mouth is like. In my case I had too many teeth for my mouth %26amp; they were sticking out %26amp; criss-crossed at the front. They took out FOUR of my teeth but it wasn't bad, just had to eat soup for the rest of the day! My advice is that if you need them get them while you're still young, I so wish I'd had mine fitted before I was 18! Good luck
Reply:A tooth extraction may be necessary before having fixed braces fitted.

This likely to take place if there is crowding and room is needed for the teeth to move.

I had fixed braces myself and had four teeth extracted.

I was left with gaps afterwards but it soon disappeared when I had my fixed braces.

I felt scared too about having tooth a extraction before having fixed braces. You're not alone and it's alright to be scared of tooth extractions. The truth is everybody feels scared about having a tooth extraction.

In the end it's your choice and your decision whether or not you want to have fixed braces. Just go with your heart.

I hope everything goes well. Take care and good luck.

Braces....?

I am off to the orthadontist this month and i might be getting my braces soon...do they hurt?

a simple question

thanks

Braces....?
Well I was really scared before I got my braces on too. But its not as bad as you think. They put them on and youll be fine until an hour or two after and it will feel a little sore. The first week will probably be the most painfull but after that youll be fine. Just stay away from hard and crunchy foods for the first 2 weeks.
Reply:YES YES YES YES, for like 2 weeks
Reply:Ohhhh YES they will. Mine hurt for 3 days straight! But the tightening oly hutrs for a couple hours.Oj and when you get them on, they hurt after an hour.
Reply:i had braces and it nothing to be scared about the only time it hurts is when the teeth move but it feels more like toothache, any way if u feel scared just imagine yourself with dead straight teeth every body else will be jealous thats all i thought of even though ma friends called me brace face but that tld me there were jealous, youll will have a wonderful smle afterwards and its worth it at the ende of the day lol

good luck
Reply:haha, about everyone that answered this is a weenie.

they don't hurt like everyone says they do.

i have them right now.

i don't like them becuase i think they make me look younger..

but they don't hurt.

it took about a week to get used to them,

the first week you have to eat soft foods but i've had mine since aug. and everytime i go back and they tighten them and say they are gonna hurt really bad i always walk out perfectly fine,

i never take pain killers or anything and i eat w/e i want after.

no biggie,

when you first get them on your gonna wanna take advil or somthing tho, they hurt later on the first day.

but nothing that you can't handel.
Reply:i've got braces and still have now. they dont hurt when you put them on. the day after you feel like crap. it hurts for 5 days. getting them tightened only hurts abit. getting colour changes never hurts. if it break's off your ortho will glue it back on. it's nothing to worry about, you get used to them and start to like them.
Reply:depends how wonky your teeth are.

aching more than real pain.
Reply:well, retainers dont really hurt, but they make ur teeth ache which then lead to me taking mine out after i had my trian track brace off and subsequently i have a wonky tooth. =[

fixed braces . . hmmm. depends what ur pain threshold is. its not too bad though. the only reason i dont like it is cos the dentist scares me. it doesnt hurt it just feels really tight and it aches a bit. also they shove this thing to keep your mouth open wide which hurts the corners of ur mouth so i;d bring a little vaseline. its not as scary as i just made it sound i apologise.

no braces dont hurt - they ache like hell, but you get used to it. persevere and you will have fab teeth. xD
Reply:oh yes, but you get used to them. Just take some pain medicine and soft foods and ice cream also helps. also with sleep.

Braces????

I already have sensitive teeth will the braces make it worse? anybody know from experience?

Braces????
they will be sore for a couple of days but if they do hurt take some medicine. and take medicine before u get them on because just in case they r sore right after the medicine will already be working! hope i helped
Reply:my teeth are sensitive and i had both top and bottom braces, but now just have bottoms...yeah...in the beginning, it made them hurt alot..but now i dont even notice they are there...and unless i eat something really cold like ice cream, it doesnt bother me
Reply:Same here! I'm happy (for some strang reason) because I'm getting braces AS SOON as my wisdom teeth come in ! I don't know why I'm happy, though.

Mkay...I'll answer your question...

Yea braces will make it worse...but it just hurts for a couple of days. I don't know from experience I know from research. = ]

I wish you luck !!!
Reply:Well, when you get them put on and everytime you get them tightened they will hurt and feel sore. You know like when you bite into a really hard apple? You know how sometime for a little bit they will be sore? That's how they feel except for like 4 or 5 days. It's not the greatest but trust me it's not unbareable or anything. After you get them put on you might want to eat soft foods for a few days. Don't worry though. It's not fun but it's not too bad. Lol but when you go out to eat you might want to take a compact mirror with you for the food that gets stuck. Just a thought! :) Hope I helped!

Braces...........................

Do you find braces attractive or unattractive? I know it's a silly question, but I was wondering.

Braces...........................
Everybody gets them, it's no big deal. A pretty girl with braces is still pretty.
Reply:unatractive. especially food particles all up in em
Reply:unattractive but I find crooked teeth to be even worse though
Reply:Their fine as long as you keep them clean! Besides your doing it to have great teeth in the end, not for a fashion statement.
Reply:haha hmm i have braces i would prefer not to have them. Some people look terrible with braces and some look fine. It all depends.
Reply:I had them for almost 4 years and I Found them very unattractive. Its like bulky metal in your mouth and you are constantly covering your mouth when u'r eating so nobody sees stuff stuck, I brushed my teeth like 8 times a day! So glad those days are over!
Reply:mostly gross it makes people spit but u know they can be ok on some people...
Reply:well it depends on what you look like... they're kinda O.K. on some ppl but awful on others!
Reply:as long as they are kept clean...and some people look better with them then others!!!
Reply:Unattractive. I used to have them. They made me look weird. And it's hard to brush your teeth )=
Reply:I know a lot of people used to get teased about braces when I was a kid, but these days so many kids where them and they have all those cute colors. I think they look cute and add character. Of course, I have to admit when the braces come off those straight beautiful teeth are gorgeous. My 18 year old wore braces and she looked so cute with them, but when they came off I was blown away by her beautiful smile. My 14 year old has them now and I think she looks cute with braces.
Reply:Have lingual braces - they're fitted behind the teeth so nobody knows!!

On a more serious note - braces may be unattractive but no where near as unattractive as bad teeth.
Reply:Depends on what kind of braces you get. But I don't mind them
Reply:i had braces when i was 15 for a year, and when i first went to get them i was in a right state i thought no boys would be interested in me when i got them and that everyone would take the piss out of me lol, but that wasn't true, i still pulled even with braces and i got quite attached to them, that by the time they were to be removed i didn't want them to be haha. i used to think boys with brace's looked hott though weirdly enough!
Reply:awww..theyre cute

but theyre not hot or anything
Reply:Only when people that have them don't brush.. thats gross.
Reply:unattractive, even though i use to have them lol
Reply:If you are a young adolescent, then its probably common for you to have them. I had them when i was 13 and i remember a lot of people having them in middle school and high school. Then I had to get them again on my bottom teeth at the age of 18 , but only for a few months. The point is that they are necessary and quite common especially if you are young. So even if they are not the best looking features on someones face, you wont be the only one wearing them. Besides its not forever, and it will benefit you in the long run. Straight teeth look hella better, and are easier to floss and brush.
Reply:To me it doesnt matter. A hot guy or pretty girl is still good looking with braces. At the moment i have mine half on and half off, and i think i look fine with both braces and straight teeth. When kids in my school get them off, i dont really notice, so therefore i dont think its that big of a deal to have them.

Attractive, Unattractive? Mutual for me =)
Reply:i seriously just got braces today...... really didnt want them and they hurt but im gonna be sooooooo glad what my teeth look like later on

Braces!!!!?

i need to no what im going to do for braces. i already got the mold. but i want to no if i am going to get a full mouth or a half a mout will u please send me pictures/websites to see what i am going to get and i dnt want that all "the dentist will tell you"

easy 10 points

Braces!!!!?
Here you go. These might help you find what we are looking for. If you can't find the information from these websites there's really nothing else.

Good Luck!
Reply:well it all totally depends on whether you have lost all your baby teeth. if you have then you will probably just have normal braces on every tooth. you will also probably get braces on top and bottom because almost everyone needs rubber bands so you need top and bottom. dont worry about it though. its nothing.
Reply:well you will have to ask your ortho/dentist about the half or full because no one can really tell you that but If you still have some baby teeth then you wont get the brace on that section

Really the process is very simple

they brush your teeth first but a little quicker than the dentist does then they put some anti-cavity stuff on yuor teeth when you go to the dentist they will brush that off so after you go once make sure you brush your teeth a little bit better

next they place a bar thing and your supposed to keep your tongue behind it it doesnt hurt just unconfortable and kinda makes you tougue itch.

I'm pretty sure they put sour stuff on next ( I dont remember because I got mine on like 2 years ago and getting mine off soon YAY!!) its only sour if they touch your cheek or your gums they try really hard not to

You might get a wire first off so the best part of it is picking out the colors
Reply:Uhm, theres no way we can really tell you..

Braces?!?!?!?

I am having my teeth checked if I need braces.....and if I do.....what will be the do's and dont's?? What colors should I get them in...or no color?

Braces?!?!?!?
Braces don’t hurt when they put it on. At first it might feel weird in your mouth, but later you will get use to it. A few hours later it starts hurting. The next day is the WORST because it hurts so badly. Take some Advil or some pain pills. Then the 3rd day it kind of get better. You will get cuts in your mouth, but use the braces wax. I tried to use the braces wax, but it doesn’t stay on %26amp; don't worry if you swallowed it because nothing will happen. Later on you won’t get cuts because you build up tougher skin. I know what it's called, it starts w/ a C. It will hurt for a couple of days, but days %26amp; days past by it will get better. You won't even notice you have braces on. Probably they will be sore for about 3-7 days. For the first couple of days, you should eat soft food. You could eat food like oatmeal, mash potatoes, porridge, banana %26amp; other soft food.

Other information - Braces color: Don't get yellow, clear, black, or white. People said yellow makes your teeth look yellow %26amp; clear stain. The white stain too %26amp; some people said black makes you look like you have food in your teeth. I don't think black really makes you look like you have food in your teeth.

Food - Don't put just anything in your mouth. Some objects %26amp; foods can loosen or break appliances. So think about these tips before you take a bite:

Slice fresh vegetables, fruits %26amp; other hard-to-chew foods before eating them.

Avoid hard foods like popcorn, nuts, or corn chips. Don’t chew on ice.

Don’t eat sticky foods like gum, caramel, taffy %26amp; gummy candy.

Cut down on sugary foods and soft drinks. If you do have them, brush your teeth right after.

Don’t chew or bite objects such as pens, pencils, crayons %26amp; fingernails
Reply:they will tell you what you can and can't eat, it's hard sometimes, but if you eat something you shouldn't it sucks getting them fixed. and you'll have them for longer. just do what they tell you.

get colors cuz they're fun, but don't get green or something that looks like you have something in your teeth. =D
Reply:the other people have answered the do's and don'ts very well, but I have a suggestion for colors.. If you want a metallic look without tacky colors, get silver. Clear looks good for the first couple of days, but then your saliva will turn them flourescent yellow. Silver looks good, and doesn't make you look like you just ate multiple jars of nail polish.
Reply:this advice will not be what ur dentist recommends. Personally, I listened to no rules at all, and my teeth came out just fine. The only rule I did follow was brushing and basically cleaning.

The whole no gum thing is basically pointless as long as u chew sugarless gum.

This isent what people will recommend, but I'm giving you the reality of it. After a while it gets really old listening to the rules. I lasted about a week lol

Oh and I'm not saying dont be careful, you need to be careful when your eating whats againt the rules

and your question about colors, I always liked pink because I thought they didnt look as noitceable
Reply:If you end up getting colors, don't go with white. It will always end up stained yellow.
Reply:They will tell you the do's and don't for what your supposed to do with eating. But don't try opening bottles with your mouth I broke my brackets like 4 times doing this. Also don't get green bands trust me they look awfull that's the first color I got and it was a big mistake.

Braces??!!?

I have really bad buck teeth and people call me crucked teeth at school, and I need to do something! The dentist is going to referal me to the orthidontist this month so do you think I should get braces? How bad do they hurt? PLEASE help me!

Braces??!!?
When you first get them on it's uncomfortable for the first day or two %26amp; then every monthwhen they tighten them its a little uncomfortable but they are well worth it. I had braces for two years and my teeth are very straight %26amp; it helped my overbite.

I would suggest very much that you get them.
Reply:they hurt for up to 10 days while they move your teeth, if you feel that you want to get braces get them if not dont get them unless its essential
Reply:It is your decision....but I would suggest that you get them. I am getting my braces on next week, and my teeth are not very crooked at all, but I know that the braces will be worth it!

Braces????????????

does anyone know how hard it is to take the elastics and wire out and clean teeth at home or is it not advisable to do so my braces look crappy and stuf stuck under wires at the brackets

Braces????????????
i had braces for 3 years i feel your pain. when u clean ur teeth take off the elastics and there are special brushes that make it easier for you to clean your teeth with braces. the denist should give you some but if they dont just go to a pharmacy and look in the aisle with tooth brushes and there should be a whole section dedicated to braces
Reply:You cant do that at home, I advise you to go get your teeth clean by the dentist
Reply:you have too hook it gently

Braces :( :( :(?

I was wondering if u think i need braces, I have a little overbite i can fir my fingernail in my front teeth have a gap i can fit my fingernail in my left front tooth i further out than my right i have a gap next to my front tooth and that it i ahve a dentstit appointment on march 19th 2008 do u think i will have to go to and orthodonstist?

Braces :( :( :(?
after everything you just named..

yea sounds like you have to get braces.

:/

im getting them tomorrow!

woo?
Reply:Ask your dentist, its not just gaps that need braces, its jaw placement. So ask your dentist
Reply:only a complete dental examination with full mouth X-rays can determine the overall picture of the alignment of your teeth and the structures of your mouth.

generally, a visit to the orthodontist checks the information provided by the dentist who refers you and they make impressions of your mouth in order to get a 3-D rendering of the structures in your mouth, both teeth and maxillofacial structures.

Sometimes, if all that is needed is a minor alignment, that can be accomplished with partial braces and a type of retainer.

Don't worry, braces aren't nearly as bad as they were when I had them! And I had a mouthful of metal for YEARS.

They are much less noticeable, they are more skilled in the work and the outcome is so wonderful!
Reply:ya probably even if your teeth aren't that bad ...they all just want money =\
Reply:If your dentist thinks you need braces they will tell you and refer you to an orthodontist. That's what mine did. I don't think I even asked. They just told me I needed them.
Reply:u surely need them.if u hav madicade ur good to go

Braces......?

ok so i will be getting my braces on soon and i am really nervous...... could somebody like explain the whole process to me? is it painful? do you get Novocain? anything else i should know? thank you!!!!

kisses

xXx

Braces......?
ok well i just gave a really good answer to another girl so i will go and copy and paste it here ok?

oh yeah and by the way she was getting a palate expander too so thats y that is gonna be in there!

here we go its a lot but read it ::::

omg!! i got both of those! first i got a palate expander.... actually, i had two!! its not the best but you will get used to it! the turning wasn't exactly pleasant but remember: lie down on the edge of your bed and have ur parent turn it. i have a gagging problem and thats why i didn't like that part but give yourself a reward like ice cream or something after!

when you get the expander eat whipped cream right away. i dont know why but it really helps you with learning to swallow better with it and talking too

DO NOT worry about getting braces! i got mine in may (top and bottom) and it doesn't hurt! they are gonna lay out all these tools and u are going to be scared but remember that they are professionals and have done this before. you can trust them! it doesn't hurt at all, all they do is glue the little brackets to ur teeth and stick a wire in. then they put little rubber bands around your brackets. ok i am not going to lie but the first couple of days your mouth will be a little sore...eat cold food and popsicles!! i ate mush for the first few days( applesauce, pudding, pasta) if you want a great recipe for what to eat, here is one(sorry if i am writing too much!)

Pastina with cheese:

boil water with a chicken boullion cube in it

stir

add in some pastina pasta (u know, the little stars)

cut the cheese (lol) about 2 or 3 slice of american cheese chopped up is good

then drain the pasta when its ready

add in a tiny bit of butter, and a smidge of milk to the pasta, and of course, the cheese

this is such a great recipe and a good spin on mac and cheese, i had it for dinner a lot

it may be hard to bite so dont clink your teeth together

get a lot of rest and maybe drink some smoothies

by about 2 weeks form monday, you will be feeling great and will be able to eat anything! dont worry about the little things! my orthodontist removed my wire and today one of my braces fell right off! you can call ur ortho. at any time and they will help u! they will explain everything u need to know about cleaning ur braces. it is very very very inportant to brush ur teeth 3 times a day and get all that food out! u dont want a big line of decay where the braces used to be!

and to think i was scared about going to the regular dentist tomorrow!! i wish u good luck and dont worry! i thought about my favorite song the whole time and acutally i remember falling asleep during one part! blue and pink for the color is fine... never get orange it fades right away! oh yeah, don't get white becuz it makes ur teeth look really yellow....

my aunt told me braces are like bling for ur teeth! enjoy ur metal smile and keep it healthy! soon u'll be giving advice to other girls and boys who are going thru the same thing! if u want u can email me at schoung9@yahoo.com for any more questions u may have!!!!!!!!!
Reply:at first it will be very painful but after u get used to it.. it wont b and then evrytime u get them tightened or a stronger wire gets put on ur teeth mite hurt

but its differnt on everybody

i got mine off Jan 3rd this year and now im on my retainers =[ i had them for 2 1/2 yrs but i survived so dont be nervus

=]]
Reply:it doesnt hurt getting them on for mine they were on a tray(like a retainer) and they put some cement or whatevr on it they dried it and they were on...they did put my tongue in this weird thing while putting them on cuz u cant get them wet while putting them on....jst make sure u lick ur lips u dont want them to be dry when they put the thing in to open ur mouth....either eat before or right after b/c ur teeth will be sore
Reply:Whoa whoa gurl!! just chillaaaxxx everything's gonna be alright, i did also feel nervous too. I swear there is no pain what so ever. okay so what happens is (if i can remember)

1) is they like put this glue stuff on your for the brakets, thennnn they get the brackets and they place it on the glue 2)they harden it with some special thingy (if they make a mistake then they have to like crush the brackets, but don't worry it doesn't hurt, it mite feel a weee bit weird tho)

3)anywho, when the placing of the brackets are done, they take a wire and place it on the brackets and they do their thing

4) they do this little twisiting thing with the wires to get it on but don't worry won't hurt

5) just be happy your teeth is gonna be straight afterwards =D
Reply:In my experience (it was more than a few years ago though!) It hurt when they popped the wire out of the brackets, and I had a ring in place around a back tooth which was pretty painful to take out, but other than that it was not bad at all. I would invest in some teeth whitening products though because my teeth were a little yellow when they were taken off. It's definitely not worth getting nervous over, and Novocaine is not needed because the procedure is not that painful. Relax and Congratulations!
Reply:Dear Newcomer to braces,

Don't be scared. If you're afraid it will be painfull, I think it will be just a little. If it's style your worrying about,so people won't make fun of you,you can get cool colors on then. Or you can get a special kind that makes it look like you don't have them. I suggest you let them show. The colors you put on braces can really express who you are. Anyway, have fun !
Reply:It is not painful! Your mouth may get a little sore from holding it open but in the end its not bad at all. just make sure you dont play with them and take advil when you get home or your mouth will get numb. If your teeth do begin to hurt, make sure you eat soft foods for a few days and drink lots of water!
Reply:Ok, I know how you feel.

And yes, sometimes it hurts a little but not for long.

The braces push your gums and teeth tightly together.

It takes a while to get use to..but dont worry.

Braces...?

i'm soon getting braces.. will they affect kissing my bf? =S

Braces...?
Lol not at all. I had braces too, they're a bit of a pain though.
Reply:No, as long as u use ur lips only.
Reply:I had braces for years and now my gnashers are spot-on!

Don't worry, you'll still be able to kiss n' stuff!!! :-)
Reply:no you can still kiss!
Reply:no they shouldnt
Reply:lol my friend got braces and she asked the same question the girl told her it shouldnt
Reply:yeah you will look a right spaz
Reply:nah not at all i had them for 2 yrs
Reply:well....it may feel a little bit diffrent but it shouldn't affect it.
Reply:no! when i had braces both me and my boyfriend had them and kissing was fine!
Reply:They shouldnt. They have never come in the way for me, but just keep in mind that you have them and be cautious with what you do with your teeth while kissing him.

it might affect the kissing mentally in a sense that you or he will be worried about them getting in the way but trust me, they wont :)

Braces??????????

im 17 will braces hurt i have a crooked overbite will i be able to eat anything i want and play sports and how do they get put on also will i get them off before graduation

Braces??????????
i had braces for 2 years and got themwhen i was 14...yes they hurt a lot when ou first get them on. thats the wost of it...your teeth are sensitive and you arent used to that kind of pain...aleve or tylenol help, bust he best thing is sleep...it kind of hurts when you rush them and it really hurts when youbite down...youll probably have to stick to soups and soft foods for a few days...it hurts every month when you get them tightened too, but u get used to it...lasts for like 3 days after each tightening...after those few days, you can eat whatever you want, but you'll have to take good care of your teeth...brush and FLOSS often to make sure that u don't get like nasty rings on your teeth...gross!!...you can totally play sports or do whatever you want...they're like contacts for your teeth, lol...

as for how they get put on, they glue these lil metal things with hooks on them directly to your teeth...they put big metal rings on your back teeth to hold in the wire...that hurts becuz they like shove it onto your tooth and it hes to fit tight...lots of ouchy pressure...they then stick a wire in they spaces in the lil things they glued to your teeth and rap it around a hook on your back teeth...then they put lil colored rubber bands on the outside of the wire to stop the wire from coming off...you get to pick the color...after that they have you rinse your mouth and youre good to go....

when u get them tightened every month, they take off the bands and the old wire and give you a new wire to fit the postion your teeth have moved to...then you pick new bands and they put them on...

it all sounds super painful, and i won't lie, its not fun, but it is soooooo worth it when you see your gorgeous smile in the mirror for the first time...i dont regret a bit of it...

if your problems are minor, u can get braces off in as lil as 6 months, but most go around 2 years...i don't know if you graduate this year or next, but chances for getting them off by may are slim to none because not much happens in the first couple months...i wish you luck with that tho

hope i helped and i hope it all works out for you

ps: when chosing band colors, dont do yellow orange or red because they all make your teeth look yellow...lights pinks and purples are the best
Reply:i have em - they only hurt after you get them and get them tightend- you cant eat much during that time - i ate grits, soup, and stuff like that- they dont bug sports much - i dont notice them unless they have been tightened and stuff
Reply:dont worry i have braces and i eat EVERYTHING
Reply:it depends on how crooked ur teeth are. You cant eat certain things like nuts, caramel, hard stuff, and different types of candy. u do get stuff stuck in ur teeth 2. i had braces for a year and my teeth werent that crooked
Reply:braces suck...get invisiline

you will probably have your braces on for graduation...if u get invisline no one notices that you have braces
Reply:Once you first get them on, they will be pretty sore for about 2 days or so. Then the pain goes away and usually they will only get sore every time you go in to get them tightened. I couldn't tell you how long you will have them on. Ask your dentist, they should tell you. When I had them I tried not to eat any sugar or anything crunchy, though I did sometimes without any harm coming to my braces. You can still do everything you want to do, you just need to be more careful is all.
Reply:I'm 14 and i got braces about a monthish ago.

Braces will hurt the first night the worst but they will hurt for a few days or a week but after that you will be fine and wont even notice them. While they hurt you can just eatthings like jello yogurt and sometimes spaghetti. haha.

I just got mine not long ago and i play basketball. I havent had to play with them yet but the orthodontist said i sould get a cover thing just for when i play any contact sport so yeah...

i have mine for 18 months but it depends because everyones time is different.

braces can get kind of annoying sometimes but youll have straight teeth at the end!

:]]

hope i helped and good luck!
Reply:there not that bad there certain food restrictions and the hurt when u first get them for a few days and afterwords when u get them tightened but ive gotten used to that to so they dont even bother me also if your worried about how they look the have clear and porcilin ones. o yeahh and when you play certain sports you may have to wear a mouth guard.
Reply:Braces don't really hurt, but they will be sore anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks. You cannot eat anything you want. At first you will be on very soft foods it is just about impossible to chew anything at first. Just eat pudding, jello, soft soup, ice cream, mashed potatoes, etc. Then eventually you can go back to what you normally eat, just avoid sticky candy like caramel. You can play sports no problem. It depends how crooked they are if they come off before graduation.
Reply:Your braces WILL hurt the first week or so, pain is more severe the worse your teeth situation is..i mean, the more crooked they are, the msot moving is needed, therefore more tension in your mouth causing more pain...

the first week of eating should be very soft foods, hard foods are almost impossible to eat at this stage. after that you can pretty much go back to regular eating habits EXCEPT chewy candies and try to cut down on sugary things..and make sure you floss!!

you can play sports...

they put them on with a special glue. then they glue each open bracket to each of your teeth and then add the wires and close the brackets, causing a lot of tention, this is what pulls your teeth togehter, every other appointment will change your wire and make it even tighter. eventually your teeth will hurt less after every appojntment as your teeth are repositioning themselves

if you are graduating this year like me, then no you shouldnt have them off. if you teeth are REALLY crooked id give it three or four years....
Reply:1. Of Course you can eat. Some people have them on for year and years

2. They do not get in the way of sports, you might want to wear a mouth guard though

3. That put glue on a bracket and sticks them on.

4. It depends, and orthodontist could tell you better
Reply:if your teeth are really messed up than theyll be there for a while
Reply:The day after you get braces it hurts to eat. Any other time it only hurts when you get them tightened. If you graduate in June of this year you will not get them off before them, but if you graduate next year there is a very good chance of getting them off as long as you take good care of them. Wear your rubberbands when you get them or it will take longer for them to get strait.

Braces......?

I got braces 2 months ago and they moved good the first week I got them, Then I just got then tightened last week and they moved good, but now they don't seem like there moving. Why is this.

Braces......?
It's a gradual process, that's why you usually have braces on for a considerable amount of time. Usually more than just a couple of months. Did your orthodontist give you an idea how long you'd have the braces on?
Reply:You gotta wait, they do move the first week u get them on but then u just gotta wait!!

don't worry just think of how your teeth with be after braceS!!1

make sure u brush well or else u get those white dotty things on ur teeeth!
Reply:Your teeth are just trying to set in the right place. They move the first couple of weeks so they can go to the right place. But if they move too much, your teeth will completely come off. You have to wait for them to set in your mouth. After that, your teeth will be moving at a steady pace.

Loose Teeth

Braces.........?

how does it feel to have braces

Braces.........?
when you very first get them on, you will just feel a slight amount of pressure on your teeth, nothing major at all just slight, hardly notciable, braces are realli easy to get used to, but when you get them tightened its a bit sore when you eat but it goes away in like a day or two, they are nothing to worry about at all and the results are always well worth it :) plus you can experiment with the colours nd be trendy :)
Reply:i have then,

you get use to then after like 2 dayss.
Reply:it feels werid the first couple days

and when they tighten the wires, it can be painful for a day
Reply:i had them, it depends on how bad(unstraight, whatever) your teeth are, like i had to hav spacers, had not much space between them, it hurt like crap, but it doesnt take all that long to get used to it. just grin an bear it, after a little while i was perfectly fine. it just all depends.

it tastes a little funny too, lol, just convince your parents ice cream will help
Reply:it hurts for like 2 weeks, then its all good
Reply:I Have Brace but i also have twin blocks in my mouth to help my jaw and i got used to them in like a couple of days
Reply:Well;

Braces act like magnets for food, so you need to keep your teeth especially clean while you have them on. You'll want to brush after meals and be extra careful to get out any food that gets stuck in your braces. Your orthodontist also may give you a special flosser you can use to floss in and around your braces. When your orthodontist changes your wires, ask if you can do a quick floss (it'll be easier without the wires).

You won't have to go on any special diet when you have braces, but you'll want to avoid some foods that are problems for braces. Stay away from popcorn, hard and sticky candy, and especially gum. Sugary sodas and juices can cause a problem, too, because the sugar stays on your teeth and may cause tooth decay. You can have these drinks, but be sure to brush afterward.

Because braces put pressure on your teeth, you might feel uncomfortable once in a while, especially after the orthodontist makes adjustments. If you have pain, ask your mom or dad to give you a pain reliever.

If you ever have a loose wire or bracket, or a wire that is poking you, you should see the orthodontist right away to get it taken care of. If your orthodontist can't find a problem, he or she may give you some soft wax that you can stick on the bracket that's bothering you. Then it won't rub against your mouth.

So braces can be inconvenient, but lots of kids have them and they are definitely worth the trouble. When will you know for sure? On the day your braces are removed and you can see your new and improved smile!

Some days your mouth will hurt really bad, and otherday its just fine. The first 2-4 days they will hurt the most. Then after that its just that much pain !

:D
Reply:at first in hurts like hell! first week i was in agony...if youre having them, dont let me put you off! it just feels like you have weird metal slips on your teeth to be honest. but its all worth it in the end i suppose!

xx
Reply:weird at first
Reply:your teeth feel really tight at first but the pain gradually goes away....tip: if you dont want them dont get too upset over them because ive had them for about 1 year and like 8 months and i couldnt wait to get them off and i stressed over them a lot.....just dont stress about a lot of people have them
Reply:I got mine on friday and they absolutely kill at the moment. Hopefully this will go away in a few days!

Braces...?

I am really scared i am getting braces tomorrow! Do they hurt? can someone tell meee plzzzz i need some ppl opions.

Braces...?
at first they dont hurt then your teeth start hurting a little but its not bad take advil about a hour before appt then after appt this will help they will tell you no gum but gum helps get rid of pain sooner good luck with your braces
Reply:take tylenol or some other pain medicine before you get them on. It hurts for a couple of days, but its not that bad. just keep taking tylenol or whatever, and it should be gone in about 2 days. Its not that bad
Reply:Don't worry.

They only hurt for the first 3-5 days (depends on how much you can take pain) but it doesn't really hurt that much. You might develop small ulclears but thats why theres the wax to put on the places that are irritating you.
Reply:they really arnt that bad i have them and i kinda like them. they dont hurt when they are putting them on but a few hours later they start to get sore. but just take tylonal or something. on a scale of 1-10 i would say they are a 10 on the first day but it depends on how bad your teeth are and how tight of a wire they put on. just stick to soft foods for a week and you will be fine. good luck!!! =]

Braces????

I have one more month untill i get my braces of

however, the ortho took off my power chain and put singles on my brackets and rubber bands. i seem to be getting a tiny gap on both sides of my teeth

should i go talk to my ortho?

because i really dont want to wait another month

and idk if they will close

help?

thanks!

Braces????
Yeah go and talk to your ortho. I know that sometimes teeth will naturally get gaps after you have had braces, pointless it seems I know, only because the braces keep them in place and once they aren't as tight or loosened teeth move a bit. It will be worth another month to get rid of the gaps cause it won't be like you can get them as easier later. Mind you I hate my ortho so I don't blame you for wanting them off asap.
Reply:well the power chain was pulling everything together, and tightly.

ur teeth are just getting used to not having so much pressure pulling them together, so yes they will spread a lil bit.

if it gets bigger or is that much of a concern, talk to your ortho.

he'll fix it :)
Reply:well if you don't get it taken care of now, they'll make you have to wear them even longer which would be upseting when you go there expecting them to be taken off...
Reply:I think you should see your ortho if your worried. But it had a power chain on it, it would have been pulling them closer together and now your teeth are moving into a normal position.
Reply:I think you should phone them up and explain it over the phone, the sooner they know the problem it can be sorted out :) and put your mind at rest!
Reply:the gaps should close and if they are opening i think you should call and ask if there's something wrong with them. mine did not open a month before i took them off.
Reply:do u have a retainer?? if u do u should be wearing that all the time..... if u dont... talk to ur ortho!! i know ppl who got gaps after they got their braces on and now they are getting braces on.... AGAIN!!

Braces?????

im getting braces on april 2nd

what colors should i get for a girl???

how do they put it in???

does it hurt???

will it be worse than spacers???

Braces?????
any color is nice

with a tool type thing

no it doesnt hurt

ummm
Reply:pink and blue.... they just glue on teeth and no it dont hurt when they put them on but its does start hurting afterwords so take advil before you go in , i think spacers hurt worse , you can search net for color picker there is a cool site that you can pick colors and see what they look like good luck with your braces
Reply:1) Colors - get the colors you like. Just one thing, don't get green. From a distance, it just looks like you have things stuck in there. Pinks, blues, even, gold and yellows are cute.

2) Most are just cemeted to your teeth. A few in the back may be put in the old-fashioned way, basically a metal piece that encircles the entire tooth. They use these for "anchors" expecially if they think they'll be using rubber bands.

3) It hurts a little, but not that much. It's more uncomfortable than painful.

4) I didn't think it was worse than spacers. Some of my friends did, but I thought the only thing worse was the soreness afterwards. It does get sore again like when they put in the spacers, and since you will have some sharp corners in there it will irriatate the inside of your mouth. Don't hesitate to use the wax until you get used to it.

Overall, it's not that bad.
Reply:it hurts,

they first sand a small spot on the surface of your tooth, hten they glue on a small bracket, and set it with a special light. once they have the brackets on all the teeth they put the wire through, adn attatch the elastics to hold it in place.

all coulers are nice.

i like dark purple.
Reply:Braces don’t hurt when they put it on.

How do they put braces on?

First they would use this thing to open your mouth WIDE open. Next they would clean your teeth %26amp; then they would put paste on your teeth %26amp; then wipe it off. Now they would put the braces glue on. They would put the bracket on one by one. They would put a bracket on %26amp; then they use this machine to make the bracket stick on. The machine would have blue light coming out of it. They put that near your mouth %26amp; then they do that over %26amp; over again. Bracket then machine %26amp; over %26amp; over until they are done. When they are done, they would put the wire on %26amp; you pick a color. They would tell you stuff not to eat %26amp; then you get your braces wax %26amp; other items.
Reply:get what ever color you like

yes they hurt bad

my lips swelled like horrible
Reply:You should get light blue, pink, whatever suits you. I personally prefer light blue. They put it in step by step, so lyk they get glued on and then they put a wire through this thing and then they put elastics on. It's all pretty simply actually. Yes, it hurts for a couple of days after you first get it but the pain will go away. Im not sure about spacers (never had them before)..

hiking boots

Braces ????

my braces color is light blue but it fades out realy easly what color should i get next

Braces ????
Pink! :D
Reply:I had braces for 2 years and my favorite color to get was a teal/greenish-blue color, it looked really great!
Reply:Ok, i have braces and i can definaly help you with your question, dont get brown or yellow it makes your teeth look gross, get a bright red and blue color it works great! ;]
Reply:Any color that is NOT clear or light

clear or white bands are nasty, because they stain after a while.

and then it looks like your teeth are decayed...

maybe purple or dark blue would be nice, or green, because it fades to a really pretty sea foam green.
Reply:I love the light blue! its bearly noticeable!
Reply:i have braces and the 1 st i got was red not bad then silver i did not like that then i got blue and orange not bad then i was looking at colors picked purple and what i think was bright red . wrong now i have purple and pink all in all for the fact that i am 40 and male with purple and pink braces any bright colors is fine people says they cant notice the pink ones .

Braces? <<<<<<<?

ok so next month im getting braces. do they hurt when they get put on or off. plz help. i want o get braces badly!

Braces? %26lt;%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;?
Kind of. When you get them put on, do NOT make the same mistake i made, wear chapstick, you will have your lips be separated and if you don't wear chapstick it will feel as if the dentist is slowly ripping your lips apart. This is how they get put on:

*1. Your teeth are cleaned and dried.

*2. A special "glue" is put on yor teeth.

*3. Each bracket is put on each tooth one by one.

*4.The glue is dried with this special UV light.

*5. The wire is then put on, help by the ligatures, or, if you are getting speed or damon braces, connected through the little hole.

And now, here's your list of do's and don'ts with your braces:

Do's:

*Brush your teeth every day

*For the first days, eat soft foods.

*If at school, use mouthwash at least.

*Floss at least once daily.

*Take Tylenol 1 hour before they get put or immediately after they get put.

*Wear chapstick

Don'ts:

*Don't eat hard, sticky or gooey foods.(for the first days, the ortho tells you not do it but as long as you brush after, its all good)

*Don't chew gum with sugar. (Try trident sugarless gum,it's good for your teeth and it tastes good.)

*Don't touch your braces too much or you might break them.

*Don't rub your tongue against your braces, you might cut your self.

*Don't chew on pencils or erasers.

*Don't bite your nails.

Remember: Braces work by applying pressure to your teeth. If your teeth are uncomfortable and feel like their being pressured, that's a GOOD thing.

Colors:

Try getting colors to match upcoming holidays such as green and red for Christmas. Don't be afraid to mix it up and express your self! Also, theres something new called braces jacketz and it's these clip-on things that have letters and sings, heres the link: http://www.bracketjacketz.com/home.html!...

Good luck and remember,it's worth it in the end!

Pain:

Pain and discomfort is common for the first five days.(or around that time.) Since your gums are still soft, the brackets will slightly cut your mouth. If that happens, go to your local drugstore and buy a canker medicine and put it around your gums. For the pressure, drink lots of ice cold water because the cold loosens the wires.

So yeah that's all I could think of now if there's more I'll add it.

I almost forgot, if your braces start cutting you then go to:http://www.dentakit.com/cocoforbr.html..... to buy a comfort cover, they really work!

All in all,

Don't worry hun, you'll be OK!!
Reply:Nope no pain a little discomfort maybe, but no pain. There is pain afterwards though, make sure you eat alot of soft foods for a few days to a week afterwards. Getting them off doesnt hurt either, but when they scrape off the glue, it may be gross feeling and you may feel pressure.

Good Luck.
Reply:im getting braces on thursday and dont worry about it ull be fine

even tho im still a little worried 2 even after reading almost evrythign i could find on the subject
Reply:Wow!! I don't want to freak you out honey but you will be ok for the first few hours after you get them on. After that it is a whole different ball game. I didn't go to school the day after I got my braces on!! Tylenol and soft food for the first few days after you get them on and then after each time you get them adjusted. Getting them off is the best feeling in the world! You won't be able to stop smiling!!

I MISS my braces so much!!
Reply:Well getting braces are exciting I had them. Its uncomfortable putting the "O" rings on which go in the back of ur mouth that connects everything. It hurts a little but I think a ear ache or having a bad case of the #2's is worse. Besides a 2 or 3 months after you get them you probably will see a big difference in the apperance of your smile and teeth . I know you will be happy about it and pain will not be an issue.
Reply:Hi there. I had braces put on when I was 40 years of age; the same time as my 15 year old!!. Actually getting them on at the dentst is fairly painless, apart from when they put the spaces in between your teeth a few days beforehand. This is to give them a little space to put some of the brackets on your back teeth. Anyway, on the day they are put on, a few hours later you may find your teeth are really sore, and I do mean really sore. However, taking panadol etc for the next 24 hrs will make this more than bearable. Some people find every month or so when the braces are adjusted, that tehre teeth are a little sensitive. My daughter had this, but I had no probs there. Guess we all react differently. My main issue was the pain on the inside of my cheeks where the braces cut into me. There did not seem to be anything I could do to fix this, and I was so pleased to get my braces off. However, my daughter had no probs on the inside of her mouth. Getting them off is a breeze. They do have to prise the brackets off your teeth, but that bit really does not hurt at all. And you must remember to wear your retainer, or all the hard work will be reversed. Believe me, teeth move so quickly and will revert back to the way they were until they can establish themselves in the new permanent place, so wear your retainer. I hope you love your new look.
Reply:It doesn't really hurt to get them on or off. All you really feel is a push (to get them on) or a pull (to get them off). It just hurts after you get them on for a few days. Especially to eat. And then every month when you get new colors it hurts for about a day. But you'll get used to them. Good luck!
Reply:i actually like having my braces lol. they start to ge uncomfortable after about 3 hours after you get them just stick to soft foods for a few days.

good luck!!
Reply:Its not the putting on that hurts, its like an hour later, but even then it only aches, just plan to have like mashed potato for dinner and yoghurt for breakfast and lunch
Reply:putting them on is practically painless. Afterwards (about first week or 2) is a different story. Your teeth will be quite sore and very sensitive. Make sure you only have soft food during the first couple of weeks (soup, mashed potatoes etc). But I'm sure after that you won't even notice them [i don't anymore =) ]
Reply:i have braces and when i got them on, they hurt. the only thing that you should do beforehand is to make sure you have soft food in the house, like pudding or babyfood. babyfood is fine and that's what i had!

also whenever you go for a checkup every two months your teeth would hurt after that.

SOFT FOOD!

Braces.....?

I have had metal in my mouth for almost half of my life. My teeth were absolutely repulsive when I first started getting work done on them (Age 7). First came the bottom expander, then came the top expander, then came the bottom retainer, and then came the top retainer.. so on and so forth until at age 10 I got all my braces on. I have had my bottom ones on longer than my tops. My teeth have been really starting to look excellent, but my orthodontist keeps adding months and months on. I was told several times "next month they are coming off" for half a year. My bottom teeth are near perfect, my top look straight but when I run my tongue across them they still feel a little crooked. I am starting to get really fed up. My boyfriend just got his off, and now I feel even uglier.

Is there a way I can tell when my braces are going to come off, because, clearly my orthodontist has no idea.

HELP!! Thanks- If you need details just ask and i will post more!! %26lt;3

Braces.....?
EVEN THOUGH THEY MAY LOOK OK, THE DENTIST KNOWS WHAT'S BEST FOR YOUR TEETH. ARE YOU DOING WHAT YOUR SUPPOSE TO BEING DOING (WEAR RUBBER BANDS AND NOT BREAKING WIRES)? MAYBE YOUR TEETH ARE JUST MOVING AT A SLOW PACE.

DO YOU HAVE THE OPTION OF HAVING THE COLORED ONES THAT MIGHT MAKE IT MORE FUN.(MY DAUGHTER GETS HERS CHANGED EVER SIX WEEKS AND SHE LOVES IT, SHE CAN HAVE PINK %26amp; YELLOW, BLUE AND PURPLE ALL DIFFERENT COLORS). HAVE YOUR PARENTS TALK TO THE ORTHODONTIST TO MAKE SURE HE IS NOT JUST ADDING MONTHS ON FOR MORE PAYMENT.

GOOD LUCK!! AND DON'T WORRY YOUR NOT UGLY:-)
Reply:Although your teeth may look near perfect to you, your orthodontist is actually more concerned with how they fit together and work. Even if they look good, if your bite is off you will end up with toothaches and jaw problems. The fact that they look good is a good sign but unfortunately you may have a little more time to get your bite perfect also. Hang in there and good luck it will be worth it when you are done!
Reply:I must say that the longer you have them on the better.

Once taken off, your teeth move. And they move fast trying to get to where they used to be. I know, it happened to me. Even wearing my retainer did not help that much.

It seems like ages since you were not wearing braces but a few years is nothing compared to the rest of your life with straight teeth. Hang in there. Even after they are straight keep them on longer. It is well worth it.

Braces......?

Hey people,

i havent posted in a while but,

i am getting braces in 5-6 days,

i am wondering how the braces procedure gose?

And will it hurt? please post i really need adivce,

Thanks,

prettyprincess!

Braces......?
It will hurt but the getting them on does not hurt. My mouth started to hurt like and hour after I got them but its not unberable it just a little pain. On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being the least) i would say braces only hurt for me a 5 or 6 not that bad but it probly depends on how spaced apart or unstrait your teeth are.

Every procedure is different but this is how mine went.

First they take the enamel off by sanding it but it kind of tickles then they wash your mouth with water then they put this thing to hold your mouth open but it doesnt hurt because you can move it in a little with you cheeks then they hook this thing to keep your mouth saliva free but your mouth is a little moist the thing that keeps your mouth dry also blocks your tongue from your teeth then they put the glue on your teeth then on each bracket my brackets were in a tray then they blow a little air on the glue then they put the tray on your jaw one then the other and they hold it there for a minute (this was the worst part for me) then they take that of and put on ones individualy that stayed in the tray just like before but instead of holding it there for a minute they shine a light on it then if your brackets are ones that have a door that opens on each one they open that then puts the wire in and shuts the doors to lock the wire into place then they inspect the braces to see if the have to change any thing they will also do that before they put the wire in to make sure the brackets are in the right place then you finaly get to chose the color bands to put around the bracket and then you are done and then they just talk about the braces

HOPE THIS HELPED I WAS SCARED BEFORE I GOT BRACES
Reply:Initially to get the braces on it doesn't hurt. Afterwards it's going to be sore, I am not going to lie to you. I would recommend sticking to soft foods for a few days, and use Ibuprofen and heat packs to help with your discomfort. Oh and to get your braces on they place i guess what you could call some dental glue (it's usually a composite like material) on your tooth, place the bracket over that and then they use a special light to harden the material. After all your teeth have gotten them, they place the arch wire that connects into all the brackets and that is secured with bands (the colored little elastic things).
Reply:The dentist glues the braces to each tooth and there is no pain with that. But when he connects each of them with a wire, then your teeth become really sore. It doesn't happen right away, but by the time I got home my teeth were very sore. I felt like a baby needing a teething ring, because when I bit down on my pillow they felt better. I think it only lasted for about a day or two. But everytime you get your wires tightened they become sore again. Not as bad as the first time. I hope I didn't scare you, because I'm probably making it sound really bad. Your teeth don't hurt, they're just sore.

Stock up on lots of soft food or liquid stuff. When I got home that first day I could hardly eat a banana. I should have mushed it up and swollowed it. Maybe get things like yogurt, cottage cheese, ice cream, apple sauce. Or liquidy soup like tomatoe soup, nothing chunky.
Reply:had a removable brace first. It didn't hurt but was messy as the plate which is attached to the roof of your mouth gets filled up with food when you eat .. yuk.. so you need to scrub it with a spare toothbrush after eating.

I later had train tracks braces. They feel like someone is applying pressure to your teeth when they are fitted. About an hour later they will start to ache. I took painkillers everything I got mine fitted/repaired/tightened. Eat soup for the first day you get it fitted until the achiness stops. The day after having it fitted/repaired/tightened. it felt like pulled muscles in your mouth (weird hey ! )

You will probably get blisters on the inside of your lips from the rubbing of the "train track" blocks. I used to get some special wax from my orthodontist to rub on the tooth blocks and this stopped the rubbing. Train tracks need not be a bore. Mine were funky as you can choose what co lour bands you have.. Don't worry these pains should be over and done with in about a day or so.

camcorders

Braces??????????????/?

I really dont remember what I looked like without braces. I was 12 when i got them and im almost 14 now. Im gonna get them off in august. Do you look different without braces on?

Reply:You will see a huge change without your braces off.

You'll probably look a heck of a lot more attractive :)

Lucky you! I have to wait til may of 2010 til i get mine off :(
Reply:Omg braces look really good on some people. Some people don't like braces, but i find they are so cool!

You will definitely look different without braces on.

-You will feel better [Because they will come off, and you will feel more 'free' lol] %26amp; look good [straight teeth, great smile].

I haven't had braces before, but i need to get braces.

How much does it hurt to get braces?? lol. Just wondering..

Reply:Depending on how clean you kept your teeth, you might have little white squares on your teeth from the braces. So if you do and you cant afford to get them whitened or use whitening toothe paste, dip your tooth brush (with tooth paste on it) into baking soda. Sounds gross and doesnt taste good but it gets your teeth white, and is a lot cheaper than products! Hold your tongue back while brushing and just keep using it, you'll notice the difference! Glad to know your getting them off!!!
Reply:lol

i put my brace when i was 12 and i'm gonna get them off in december

my sister used during 4 years!!

and she looks different but much better!!
Reply:yes i do, but you will still look like yourself, they will give you pictures of before when you get them off anyways, and you won't want to see them, it's really weird.

Braces??????

I realllllllllllllllyyyyyyy want braces so bad. the dentist says my teeth are perfectly naturally straight and i dont need them. i want them so bad more then anything!!!! i think they look cool.

is there any way to get like temporary or removable braces? if so how much are they are where do u get it from??

Braces??????
If your teeth are perfectly straight, why on earth do you want braces? They cost up to $5000 and adjustments hurt. Plus whole you have them on you can't eat caramel, popcorn, nuts, jelly beans, anything hard, sticky, or chewy.

Be greatfull you have naturally straight teeth. They say that in generations to come there will be no such thing as people who have naturally straight teeth.
Reply:lols, get grills or something.

o_o

they kinda look like braces.

:p

Reply:honestly... just take the dentists advice. it not only saves money, but it saves you from the pain from braces.
Reply:Thats exactly how I felt. Although, in my case i needed braces. I hate them! For the a little while I loved them. But, seriously, be thankful that you don't need them! I'm glad my top braces are off!
Reply:ew why would you want braces. Let me tell you, i got braces in july and cannot wait to get them off (hopefully its soon). It makes me feel very subconscious and hesistant about smiling and laughing especially when i meet new people because braces just does not match my face shape. Food gets stuck in the wires all the time, you have to constantly rinse your mouth out/brush after you eat to get the stuff out and they are quite uncomfortable too, as you can always feel the brackets on top of your teeth and stretches your lips to cover them to close your mouth.

You are lucky to have straight teeth. they also hurt too, for a good 3 weeks and all you can eat is soup and soft noodles. Count your blessings and dont waste money on anything. Who knows, maybe you'll be like me and where dentists wont realize you need them until you get to college and you can finally have your wish fulfilled.
Reply:You Are ODD!
Reply:ummm no. unless u get a grill, and girl you REALLLYY do not want real braces. that stuff realllyyyyyyyyyy hurts. i have them and people make fun of you.
Reply:You DO NOT want braces. Trust me. They suck!

You think they're cool because you dont have them. They hurt and they get in the way. I've gotten use to them but i still dont like them at all.

Braces!?!?

im 17 im getting braces tommrow i alredy have the spacers in will my braces hurt, and how do they get put on,im graduating this year will they come off by june.

Braces!?!?
yes, braces will make your teeth sore. theyre meant to move your teeth around and teeth dont like to move.

and depending on what youre getting done, there is a slight chance they could be off by june. but i wouldnt count on it...braces tend to be on longer than 3 months.
Reply:They hurt alot, then you start getting used to them and it's time for them to be adjusted and they hurt all over again. Braces are usually on for years not months, but it's better to do it now and get it over with. You'll be glad you did.
Reply:They won't be off by June, most like it will take a year, possibly longer.

It doesn't hurt when they are put on.

They use this tool to create a rough surface, so the tooth cement sticks better and put the brackets on, which again doesn't hurt, it's just sticking it to the cement. Next they use a blue heat light ( I think that's what it is) to dry bracket to the cement...Next they feed the wire through, and place the bands over the wire, which just involves a little tugging, no pain at all. Next they trim the wire in the back so your not getting poked and irritated constantly.

They will start to hurt later that night, and the next couple of days, but it's totally bare-able. Just stay away from hard foods and chewy stuff for awhile.

Again, none of the process of putting braces on hurts.

Oops I almost forgot!, they put this mouth thing in to keep your mouth open during the process, it's like a soft plastic... it doesn't hurt either.. it's quite comfortable if ya ask me! lol

Good Luck!!

EDIT**

I noticed you added your teeth are very crooked, so givin' the work needed to be done, mine aren't crooked, I've got gaps and an over bite, blah blah blah...and my dentist said i'll have braces for atleast 26-38 months. So you'll deff have them for more than a year. but you'll be so glad you did!

Braces??????

hi

i have to get braces in about a week and i was wondering a lot of things. whats the process of putting on braces? does it hurt when they put them on? does it hurt after? any advice or comments are appreciated. what color do u think looks the best? im 12.

Braces??????
Reply:Hey! I had braces! Anyway, the braces don't really hurt when they put them on. They use glue to stick metal plates that hold the wires in place. Your mouth may be sore afterwards, but thats the worst of it! The best color I think is red.

Please add me to your contacts and that way you can contact me with any questions!

Annika : Good Luck!
Reply:i just got mine on a week ago. they hurt for the first 3 days or so put then your mouth gets used to them! eat as much as u can right after u get them on cause they dont hurt right after but they do the next day and then ur not gonna wanna eat cause it hurts
Reply:I have braces, I don't remember what the process is but it doesn't hurt while the orthodontist is putting them on, but it hurts after. Your orthodontist will most probably tell you what to take if your teeth are hurting a lot. You will get use to them after a while. Good Luck!!
Reply:Don't be overly nervous about braces, they're a part of life many people go through. When they first put them on, they use this blue cement to hold them in place. The cement dries to a white color, it doesn't stay blue. All of the individual brackets are placed normally close to the center of the tooth, they use this special light that emits a blue color to attach them. At first it feels very weird b/c you can feel the brackets resting on your lips. Once they put the wires in you'll feel some pressure, make sure to take Motrin/Advil a little bit before the appointment if you can (talk to your parent about that). You'll eventually get used to the braces, the way they feel, and the tightening of the wires. It's very much worth it when you have your new beautiful smile to show off to everyone.
Reply:im 11 and i just got braces last year, so this is personal expeirience!!

get dark colors, light just gets and looks WAY too dirty!

it does not hurt when you get them on, but the day after it hurts like heck!(just the truth, not meant 2 scare u!)

wax, for me does not work because it always falls off, but you should maybee just try it, if it does not work, just ask your dentist if he would suggest anything else

i hope that helps, and good luck!! :))
Reply:uhh no it doesn't hurt at all.. takes about 2 hours... and yes your teeth will be sore for a week or so. For the first day your gonna wanna pull them off.. they'll bug you like crazy. Whatever color you want! They'll give you lots of color choices =)
Reply:When they put braces on they glue the brackets on your teeth, which are little silver squares, and then they put the wire through and then but the colored bands on them. It doesn't hurt much when you first get them on but a couple of hours later they will start to hurt. But the best advice is the first couple of days you should try to just eat stuff like apple sause and soup and stuff like that would make it hurt less. And chop your food up if you need to. It helps in the long run to not hurt more.

I hope I could help.

PS- the best color i had was light pink and red

or light pink and silver was pretty too.
Reply:Well it doesnt hurt when you get the braces on but it does REALLY hurt after the procces is done. The day after and i couldnt eat for a few days same with my bottoms. well i suggest to get a darker color because it is less noticable i made that mystake but i would say a teal. any more questions just ask me and beleive me i know.
Reply:i got braces 2 days ago! i was worried as well, but it doesn't hurt putting them on. they'll do a mouth stretcher thing, that hurts a little. then they just put the glue and brackets on. after they take the mouth thing on your mouth will be sore and and stuck in that position. It wont hurt for the first hour or so but then it'll start to hurt. Just take some Advil or something to take away the pain for about 3 hours. my colors are red an blue. but like around Christmas you can get red and green, or Halloween can be orange and black, just be creative. but it does take some time to get used to the braces, i have not yet but I'm getting pretty close. Remember to stay away from anything you cant split in half with your hands( that's what they told me) some ships are good, like lays or sun chips, but ask your doctor about that. Hope this helps bye!!
Reply:im getting braces tomorrow. ive heard some great advice so here you go.

they do not hurt when they are bein put on. they hurt alot like the first through 5 or 6 days. i think im gonna get navy blue and hot pink. what kind of colors do you want to get? follow your heart.

Braces!?!?

im 17 im getting braces tommrow i alredy have the spacers in will my braces hurt, and how do they get put on,im graduating this year will they come off by june.

Braces!?!?
they put them on at my ortho by draining your saliva, then they put this stretchy thing on your lips (you feel a bit of pressure, and bring chap stick to put on before they do it) thin they put a little glue on your teeth and do a purple on it.... then they put a silver thing (back of it) re-glue and put that on with the purple light then....... they put your bracket on with the purple light on and glue... t hen they sometimes put the wire on or they leave it alone for a week so you can get used to it. you go in and they change your wire and put different bands on...

now the hurt part..... it hurts a bit when your first getting used to them and they get stuck on the cheeks... they also hurt when they put a new tighter wire on... when that occurs, take a Advil. in my opinion, the only other time that they hurt is when a wire tip is out, then they give you wax for that.

off by June? it is possible, but unlikely, ask you orthodontist, and he will give you an estimate.it depends on the crooked ness of your teeth.
Reply:well, i am guess you don't want me to sugarcoat things. this is my experience and it may be different for you. the putting them on process is not bad at all. seriously you don't even feel a thing, and it is the same when getting them off. but maybe a few hours later you will notice the effect they are having. your teeth will feel very pressurized but you can definitely take some medicine. it really isn't that bad, the pain you experience, if any, will last for only a day or so.
Reply:sorry to bust your buble but they usually are in for 18-24 months
Reply:it does hurt like the first week but then its just chilling...

they will probably not take them by june but it really depends on your problem but im 95% sure they wont take them of by june maybe in a year... i have worn them for 2 years %26amp; a half... and thair still not of!!!
Reply:i doubt theyll come off by june.. but they could come off sooner then planned if you keep them clean.. they only hurt the first couple times you get them tightened and it takes forever for them to put them on.... but just think of the outcome and how good theyll look after theyre off =]
Reply:hah you really think you will have braces for only 2 months? you're lucky if you'll have them for only 2 years. thats how long i had mine. sorry to tell you. and they hurt..but mainly only when you go in to have them tightened.

i know people who have had braces for 7 years. good luck.
Reply:You will probably be sore for a few days. As for putting them on they put the metal bands around your molars and glue the brackets to your teeth. They use pliers to put you rubber bands on, but that's not bad. By this June? I doubt you'll get them off by then but who knows, I'm not the ortho.
Reply:Ok hunni, brace yourself, I ain't gunna sugarcoat it for ya...

In my experience, yes, the procedure will hurt. I wont be as bad as you think though. It's mostly the pressure that causes the discomfort. They actually glue these metal bits to your teeth. This wont hurt all that much, but it's the getting them off bit that is most likeley to be more painful. And no, they wont be off in time...

Sorry to be so blunt, but you needed to know... But it's totally worth it! By the end of it you'll feel like a million bucks. Honestly.
Reply:sorry kiddo, but no. Usually they take 2 years to come off. At first they hurt but thats because your teeth arent used to the pressure and get loose, but your teeth get custome to it. and you get use o other little pains. and hey dont worry. im 12 and i handle them just fine. right now some rubberband went out of place a bit and bruised the inside of my mouth a bit and ive been handleing it for 2 weeks (and yes it's sharp)
Reply:When you get baces (and i speak from expirience) they are usually on for about 3 years and they do hurt. a LOT. i would recomend eating jello for the next few meals after you get them on because thats just about all you will be able to eat. After a week you will be able to eat REAL food again
Reply:dude its not that bad, i just got mine off

nope, you will have them on for almost 2 yrs
Reply:might take up to 3 years too! depends on your teeth condition. The max I heard of is 4 years (eeeeeeeew!)

You have to ask your ortho how long do you have to put them on

im still deciding if I should get em! =/

Braces??!!??

Braces??!!??
No pain at all, just for a few days after. The procedure is just a bit tiring thats all. Try all the colors cos they will change every visit.
Reply:When their putting them on it doesnt hurt. But it does hurt afterwards for 4 days or so, I think white is the best color idk y , it makes ur teeth look better :)

Braces!!!!?

Ahhh i nedd braces ok so hers the story. i need braces witch i no nothing about!

-what can i eat

-what colors can i get

-advice

-help

-hurt level 1-10 (1 being the lowest)

-HELP!!!

Braces!!!!?
Dont panic!

I have braces, it depends what your pain threshold is , because some people say it doest hurt but i thought it did.

Once you get them in the pain is about a 6-7, when you get them tightened the pain was about 9-10! But dont let that scare you, ITS SOOOOO WORTH IT!

Traintracks you can get any colour you want, but if you feel uncomfortable with braces and a bit self-concious then you dont have to get a colour.

I hope this helped a bit.
Reply:If your teeth aren't that crooked, then you could opt for Invisalign, which is a series of invisible retainers that you get changed every three weeks.

But, if you need braces...

-When you get them on, it will be hard to eat solid food, so you'll probably need to eat soup, yogurt, mashed potatoes etc. for the first few days

-You can get any colour of the rainbow you would like...even clear!

-To avoid breaking your brackets (the colored parts) you can't eat hard foods (like candy).

-The pain level when you get them on is like 5-6

-When you get them tightened it is like 8-9!!

-DON'T GET YELLOW BRACKETS...your teeth will look yellow!

-A lot of things will get stuck in your braces...so make sure you clean them after every meal!

-Brush your teeth often.

Hope this helps!
Reply:I have a cousin who has braces, and he can't eat anything too hard or sugary I think.

In colours, here in sw Australia, they recommend no colours because it takes longer with them, so it depends what you want.

Apparently it is uncomforable, but doesn't hurt. All they do is hook the ends around your back teeth.

My friend had braces and she is absolutely gorgeous. Keep smiling like you don't care! Don't worry be happy!
Reply:I have braces right now. There not too hard to take care of them as long as you brush daily and floss reguarly.

You can eat pretty much what ever you want. But for the first month of having them on, stick to chicken and soft foods. They will hurt like hell otherwise. After that, don't eat laffy taffies, caramel, or any really sticky candy or food. AND YOU CAN CHEW GUM!!!!

You can choose from a veriety of colors. Theres black, gray. orande, neon pink, green, light blue, dark blue, red ,yellow, and white.

It will only hurt on a 5 base level for only the first
Reply:in order

-no gum or sticky food

-it depends on your orthodontist/dentist, with mine, blue, yellow, green, red, pink, purple, white

-to avoid further pain, whenever you are alone and wont look stupid, smile a lot and stick your lips out so that they are not touching your braces. by the way, this only works before your lips and mouth start getting irritated, and does not help with tooth pain.

-it depends, at first unfortunately, 5-10, after a week or two, 2-4, after that, 0 (except your lips may get sore from the brackets on your teeth which might hurt your lips) when you get them tightened, 4-8, and the cycle continues.

-if you have a choice of date (most people don't, but hey who knows) choose a time where you will be out of school/work (i don't know how old you are but i am from now on going to assume you are still school age, and if you are not, sorry in advance) for a while. or at least a weekend off. if at school, you go out to lunch, try to go somewhere where you can eat pudding, although for some people that is off limits to eat, but for me it was not. if you cant have pudding, try a smoothie, but if you have time, wait a while so that it is not so cold (the cold sometimes hurts your teeth at first). if you can have both, great. if you have school lunch, my sugestion, eat at home unless it serves soft room temperature stuff. if you get cold sores, try this (i found it off the internet when my sister got braces) Doctors normally treat and remedy the canker sores with an anesthetic such as benzocaine. We have found that a good home remedy to treat a cold sore is the use of salt water. Baking soda is also a good treatment. Drugstores such as CVS may sell something to numb the pain, but you may also want to try milk.

Take about a cup of water and add either table salt or sea salt to it. Proceed to gargle the water of the cold sore repeatedly. Do this several times daily and you may find less pain the cold sore to recover quickly.

other then that, braces really are not half bad after the first couple of weeks
Reply:-when you first get braces you need to eat soft foods such as pasta, soup, smoothies, and shakes. after that you can eat just about everything except somethings like popcorn kernels and VERY chewy candy can break a wire or something.

-at most orthodontists you can get a great range or colors, even with neons and metalics!

-my advice is to take good care of your teeth and if you have bands and your teeth are sore from a tightening, lay off wearing them for a little while

-when you first get them its like 6 or 7 but after that its really doesn'y except for at tightenings
