Braces.....?

i want to get braces. but i want to know are they going to hurt. and how long u keep it in. and do u have anymore info on braces. just tell me because i dont like mi teeth so i want a better smile,okay.thanks for responding,byr

Well it depends how long the dentist thinks they need to be on. I wouldn't get them unless he reccommends it, cause braces suck. If you need them they will be worth it though. The length they stay on can vary, i think the norm is around two years. Sometimes you have to have other things like a retainer after that for a while. They will hurt, but it's not AS horrible as you think it would be. The first day hurts but after a while you get used to them. And when you get them tightened it hurts again. You have to be careful what you eat, but once you are used to them you can eat pretty much everything. Don't drink too much coffee or you might stain your teeth and they will have a white spot where the bracket was. Brush your teeth if you do, and after meals. Keep your teeth clean. You might have to whiten your teeth afterwards. Good luck!
Reply:I have a fixed brace. They are much better than a palate brace as you ahev a lisp and you are tempted to take them out.


A fixed brace will hurt for a couple of days adter you get it tightened. Also it depends on the type of teeth layout you haev. But a fixed barce can be kept on for 1 to 3 years.That may seem a lonf time but think about the ened result.


I think its worth it for a hollywood smile !
Reply:I just got braces yesterday and I did a lot of research beforehand. Braces do not actually hurt that badly going on, a few hours after your teeth will feel sore, but if you take tylenol or motrin ib or something you will be fine. The first few days/week you will have a hard time eating(chewing), so i suggest blending your foods. (I had blended scrambled eggs for breakfast lol, but actually didnt taste bad). Depending on how badly crooked your teeth are, that will determin the time. I only have to keep mine for a year but most of my friends had them 2-3. I think it is worth it in the end to have a great smile =] Hope this helps!
Reply:well you have to think about it would you rather have crooked teeth or go through a little pain? my sister got them they dope you up on meds when u get there so it doesnt hurt until later and anyways lots of people had them and no ones died yet....right?
Reply:I have had mine on now for 3 days. I am lucky though I must say I only have to wear the tops for a year and bottoms for the last 6months of the year. It all depends on how your jaw line is which determines your bite and how crooked your teeth are that determines the length of the brace wear. Thank god I only have a year they are a bit of a pain but I will have straight teeth after wards to me it's worth every penny because your teeth is the foundation of your face.
