i have a paladenspander (its like a retainer) and i really want to just get it off (its removable) and get braces already! i had it on for like a year now. when will i get it off?
Braces????
What you have is a palatal explander. They expand the arch. This is what it called "interceptive orthodontics".
It's the 1st step to creating a more functional bite and pleasing smile.
Once teeth have moved, they may return to their former positions unless held in place. They have "memory" and can relapse. You would need to speak to your dentist about wearing or not wearing your appliance.
Braces are the next step in adjusting your bite, but must come at the proper time. Your doctor may be waiting for you to be in late mixed dentition (only several baby teeth left) or until all permanent teeth are present.
It really is best to speak to your parents %26amp; your dentist.
Reply:Of course you have to talk to your dentist/orthodontist about that. No one here can answer that question.
