I have to get braces soon.Do they hurt when you get them

***it doesnt hurt dont worry-it is just a long process and it tastes kinda bad





they give u a band on ur molars fiist, to see ur size and stuff





first theu put this positioner thing is ur mouth, it makes your mouth stretch a lkot so they can see ur teeth, it will bother u for a minute or 2 but u will get used to it, u keep that thing on the WHOLE time





then there are these things that look like shots and stuff, i got really freaked out when i first saw them but actually, they dont go in ur mouth! this is the cement that they put on ur braces then they stick the braces on ur teeth


**the cement kinda tastes bad!





they do this the first time and every time u get them tightened:





they will put the rubber bands on ur braces with things that look like sisscors (they dont hurt) after that they put the wire-this is the most anoying part cause after they slip it in ur mouth, they have to cut it to make it fit right





then that is it!(the process is about 35 minutes)

but after u do it, ask ur doctor for dental wax, dental cotton balls, and rubber cover up





***each person is different i bleed a little on the first day and i put a few cotton balls in my mouth for like 3 minutes





when u get home use ACT mouthwash and for the first hour, ur teeth may be a little numb so drink mainly fluids-clear fluids





then for the first day or 2 ur teeth may be a little sensitive so stick with eating soup, pasta, pudding, jello, beans, yogurt, custard, fries, milkshakes, ice cream, and soft foods-avoid straws





every night use Peroxyl mouthwash for like a week to keep ur gums storng from cuts and use dental wax and rubber coverups so u wont get blisters, they hurt a little but arent that bad. avoid sleeping on ur side, try to keep ur head straight up for a couple of days





every morning and every night use the Peroxyl mouthwash again for 2 weeks then after that just use ACT mouthwash to keep ur teeth and gum s healthy. get some Super floss, made for braces-i sugest elictrical toothbrushes they keep ur mouth cleaner





dont worry-trust me- i have had my braces on for almost 4 years, i just got em off about two months ago-i luv my new smile!!!***

Reply:yeah they make your teeth really really sore and it is hard to eat anything.


After awhile you will get used to the feel though. My ortho was really nice, and he was always gentle when I got them tightened so that didn't hurt too much





just think about how beautiful your smile will be when they come off!!


be sure to brush and do EVERYTHING your ortho tells you to. I made sure to wear my headgear at night, and I ended up getting my braces off a month early!

But when you first eat something its really weird...they will be sore but wont be PAINFUL!





no worries straight teeth are so in and you will have a beautiful smile at the end! yay

Reply:they dont hurt at first but after a couple hours they hurt like hell when you first try to eat and stuff...just be patient with it cause your teeth will look good when you get them off

fist they take all the spit outta your mouth and when u get them on since your lip is so dry they cut ur lips


you cant eat for days


take tylenol or advil and the pain will go away temporarily

But don't worry, I promise they won't hurt when they put them on. It might feel uncomfortable though and your mouth might ache because you have to keep it open for a while. All they kind of do is stick bits of metal to your teeth - lol. (I'm not the greatest at explaining things).


What you do have to worry about is the pain afterwords. That's what many people mean when they say it hurts. Your teeth will be sore for a few days and you can only eat really soft food.


But don't worry it won't hurt when they put them on.


If you know anyone with braces ask them and I'm sure they'll tell you the same.

well... they feel wierd when you first get them and it feels like they are sticking out and you cant close your mouth proplery (but really it just looks normall)





... the next day they will get a bit more painfull and you will not be able to eat anything hard also take some painkillers when you wake up to help prevent bad pain





the 2nd day ... will hurt a tiny bit less than day 1





the 3rd day .. starting to eat harder things like bread (maybe a bit harder than that depends on how much pain you have because everyone has a different pain barrier)





the 4th day.. everything will start to get back (nearly) to normal now you will proably close to eating harder things like crisps n stuff but you may be too scared to eat them incase you break your brace (it wont though ive ate a really chewy toffee , chewing gum, nuts etc and nothing has broke it ...YET)

Reply:you CAN eat, it just hurts to bite. have stuff like noodles and pasta and soup because you can swallow them whole. the pain will last for just over a week.my braces have been in one week today and they only hurt a smidge. oh and they might rub the inside of your mouth. i said MIGHT!
Reply:they hurt like heck!!!!!! its hard to eat alot of stuff. soft stuff the best to eat. it also hurts when you get them tightened!! hope you wanted the truth
