Braces....?

I've had braces for over a year now. Well the top ones for over a year, and the bottoms for a year tomorrow I think!!





I had a big gap on the bottom row of teeth as I have two teeth missing.





At my last appoinment my orthodontist said that the treatment was nearly done, but didnt give a specific date.





I have an overbite, and wondered if it is almost predictable that I will get elastics?





I have brackets suitable for them, when do you normally get them? I mean how far through the treatment?

If you have the brackets that are suitable for elestics then you will definately get them. I had to wear them. I had to wear them twice during my treatment, once in the middle of it and once at the end of it. It was a couple months each time.

i had rubber bands for 1 1/2 years and got them at the end of treatment. i didn't wear them all the time so i had to wear them for 6 months longer that i should have had to.





if you wear them as directed it will take less time, but if you don't wear them you will have them on for a looooooong time.
Reply:I've had braces for about a year and I'm going through the same thing. I have two teeth that are still growing in. My ortho said he'd start with elastics once those two have grown in and after they have brackets. If the teeth missing are just baby teeth with permanent teeth under them, you will probably start once those have grown in. If not, they usually start the elastic half-way through or toward the end of treatment. If you are unsure, ask your orthodontist.
