Would it be really painful to get your braces removed???? I'm gonna get mine removed next week...so im sorta anxious..lol
Braces...........................
I had braces for two and a half years, and when I got them removed in 2003 it didn't hurt at all!
I got a little ansty sitting there, because I was so nervous but that is it! It feels kind of like they are putting ice on your teeth when they are sanding the glue off, but it doesn't hurt. It is just a little aggrevating, but doesn't last long.
When I got my braces off I actually missed them, because I didn't have to go to the orthodontist every six weeks and get the colors changed! lol.
My teeth did feel brand new afterwards, and they feel soooooo smooth. It wil be a walk in the park :-D
GOOD luck, and don't worry!
Reply:No, its not painful at all! You will feel soooo good after you get them removed! And your teeth will look so pretty! You will have to wear a retainer at night. Good Luck and enjoy your new beautiful teeth! :)
Reply:NOPE!
Reply:I don't know what type of braces you have, but from what has happened when I had to get one removed to realign it... it wasn't painful at all. However, mine are Damon 3 so I don't know if it is different.
Reply:Nope! Other than your teeth feel slimy for a bit.
Reply:Nope. Doesn't hurt at all. Your teeth are a little sore afterwards, but not nearly as bad as they are after you get them tightened. You feel it tugging as they pop the brackets off, but it is fairly quick and doesn't hurt one bit. Congratulations on getting them off!
Reply:No it is not painful. Your teeth will feel so-o smooth that it will take a while to get used to it again! Congratulations. Keep smiling!!!
Reply:no.

when you get them taken off they usually take like a plyers and just kind of snap them off. it's really easy, you just feel like slight pressure on some of your bottom teeth.(or your more sore ones) but when you first get them off it feels so nice!! you just want lick your teeth all day!
Reply:Not at all. It is just like them putting them on. They have to snap the metal bars, but that doesn't hurt you at all. Then they just merely scrap the metal brackets off and they come off easily. It's not like they are pulling on them really hard.
If you have "clear" braces, it might be painful.
Reply:it doesnt hurt at all! i got mine taken off in october 06. i will advise you to buy some mints or gum for when you get your retainer though. the one that they glue on your bottom teeth tastes really bad for about a day. idk if its the glue or the metal but its pretty nasty. i was poppin mints constantly lol. congrats! Reply:Seems everyone here has had a great experience getting his/her braces off. Fantastic!
That said, sometimes getting your braces removed can be uncomfortable. Usually the braces pop right off without much trouble, but the cement/glue that gets left behind is usually removed with a handpiece (what a lot of folks refer to as a "drill"). While it shouldn't hurt, sometimes your teeth are a bit sensitive to the air from the drill.
The folks working with you will know you're anxious (everyone is) and they'll help you through it. No worries!
Reply:No, they have special tools to take them off. ( It doesn't hurt at all!
Reply:My daughter had her braces removed about a year ago. It's not really painful but there is some discomfort. She first had her bands removed and then the pads. Those went by quickly but then the technician had to spend over an hour scraping the glue off of her teeth. That was the part that caused her the most discomfort.
