Braces!?!?

i am getting braces top and bottom and a expander on Thursday and i was wondering how long should this take? how long after until the soreness comes? should i take any pain medication before i go? any answers will be of help thanks.

ow...yes take a mild form of painkiller before you get them - it will feel really tight immediately after getting them put on, then will change into a dull ache (but very sore nonetheless). I had mine a couple of years ago, and I would defenately recommend taking a painkiller of some sort - it just helps soften it up a bit. and obviously, for the first few days, soft food. i'm not sure exactly how long it will take for you - it depends. An hour? maybe two?

Reply:def take some advil or so before you go, and after def, its not like omg pain its going to hurt because its going to be adjusting you teeth,


the soreness will prob take a day or two to show up, but keep some ambesol ( the tooth stuff) and keep advil or tynenol around you will want some soft foods also too! try like an hour before you go to take the med and eat before you go because you dont know how you will feel after it.

Reply:I have braces.... I getthem taken off in a few months, I had to keep them on for two years,but how long you should keep them on there will be for the dentist to decide. When they put braces on there it gets sore not long after... but gradually goes away within a few days.
Reply:Dont get braces, switch while u can to Invisalign, its the best thing in the world! I get a new set every 2 weeks, got into the orthodontist so he can check my teeth every month and just gives me 2 more pairs. Its only for 50 weeks! The first day or so u feel some pressure but thats it. Ppl tell me braces kil! Braces, if u have sensitive teeth, like me, can cause permanent marks on ur teeth, invisalign doesnt. Braces u cant eat what ever u want, invisalign u just pop on and off. Braces hurt to get tightened, not invisalign. Everyone with braces always say the wires scratch them and they bleed, not invisalign. Invisalign u cant see, noone knows i have them till i tell them. Someoen told me they were invisable to others but i didnt believ it until i got it. Braces look ugly these dont. My guy told me that braces could take at least 2 yrs. Invisalign 50 weeks,and not lookign ugly! Also I have TMJ with means i guess i grind my teeth and my jaw snaps when i open mouth, and invisalign helps that problem, braces dont. If not for invisalign i would need a night gaurd which costs $500, and if i get braces my teeth shift so i would need at least 2 or 3 and invisalign is only a grand more (i think it was 5,000 as opposed to $4000 with barces). Wow, i should like make a commercial for them or something!
