Braces??!?!?!!?

im getting braces soon. how do i deal with them?

Braces??!?!?!!?
they don't hurt too bad after the first few days. i don't really know what you mean "how do i deal with them" you pretty much just continue life as normal, just checking in the mirror after you eat to get out any stuck food bits was what i did differently
Reply:They hurt pretty bad not when they are being put on but, afterwards. Especially the next day. Just you the wax they give you and ORAGEL. I'd avise you to sleep with a piece of wax on your brackets. It will make it a lot better for you in the morning. I got mine last year and I wish someone would have given me some advice b/c they hurt so bad the next day.

Good Luck!

Only one year left. YAYY!
Reply:I have braces now and am getting them oft in two weeks..YAY..

Anyway, they hurt ME... I heard from a lot of people that it didn't hurt them, but for me it was excruciating pain a few days afterward. I guess it depends on your body. The adjustments didn't hurt and when I first got them put on, they felt HUGE in my mouth. It was so weird, i almost cried. However, as time went on, I didn't even notice them anymore. It was fun picking colors and whatnot too. It makes you a little different for alittle while so try to have fun with it. Make the best of it.
Reply:i just got mine off you just cant eat for 3 days
Reply:The most important thing to remember when getting braces is to TAKE CARE OF YOUR MOUTH!

You don't want to be one of those people that get thier braces off, have perfectly straight teeth, but have big white spots all over them from not brushing effectively. Braces really make it difficult to get all of the plaque off of your teeth, but you have to make sure to take the extra time to do it, otherwise you will end up with beautifully spotted teeth. Who wants that? Your orthodontist will tell you ways to brush around your brackets: Up when you are at the bottom and down when you are at the top.

Another thing that people are at a big risk for when they have braces is GINGIVITIS. AHH! Its not a pretty sight: Your gums get all puffy, red, swollen, and bleed. It is caused from not removing the plaque from your teeth. Just take good care of yourself and you will be fine! You will have a beautiful smile in no time!
Reply:My daughter just got hers off and when they were put on, it was exactly as Taylor Jonas said. To add to that advice, I would suggest takng ibuprofen after the procedure, but check with your orthodontist first. (Do NOT take aspirin.)
Reply:I'm not gonna lie 2 ya - they kill the first couple of days. I'm only a preteen and this is my 2nd time havin them. After a couple of days, they feel normal and u will touch ur teeth and b like, "o ya, i hav braces! i forgot!" Before you get them on and during the first couple of days i would suggest takin some ibuprofen.

~ take it from some1 who has braces
Reply:I had braces for about a year and a half. They don't that bad at all. After you first get them put on, your teeth will be sore for a few days. And after you get them tightened you will be a little sore for about 2-3 days. It's not bad at all really. To deal with them the best advice I can give you is just don't worry about them! Almost everyone gets braces now, so it's not a big deal. Just relax and before you know it, you'll have perfect teeth! :)
