Braces????

How long are braces left on after gaps left by teeth taken out close?

My gaps are nearly closed and the rest of my teeth are straight.

Braces????
The gaps in my teeth have been closed for about three months now and I still have not got my braces off. I thought they were ready to come off but my orthodontist told me that my bite is still off and that I'm looking at another 10-12 weeks before I get them off. I also got a different power chain thats suppose to help keep the teeth in place. So you could be looking at another 4 to 6 months.
Reply:Until your teeth are set and wont shift once your braces come off
Reply:maybe for you- 3 to 6 months.
Reply:you have to go with what your orthodontist says. it is different for a lot of people. I am sure if you are almost there, it won't be too much longer. They say that it is painful to be beautiful. hang in there.
Reply:My brother had his on for years, the orthodontist would be like "Oh maybe one more year." So really you'd have to ask your orthodontist.
Reply:It's up to the orthodontist. Even if you think your teeth are perfectly straight, if they think that one tooth is even slightly wonky, they'll not take them off until they are happy with it. Annoying but true I'm afraid.
Reply:It depends on how much your teeth move.

I've got braces and have had them on for about 2 years and a couple of months.

I can't wait till they come of as they can be annoying and you get tired of cleaning all around your teeth.

But you get used to it and then you feel they are apart of you.
Reply:this will be told best by ur orthodontist but as u say that the gaps are nearly closed so it wont take very long. the orthodontist will then give u a retainer.
