Braces????

I think I should get braces soon, I am 12 but my dentist never says anything about it. All the kids at my school pretty much have them. I have lost all my teeth and they have pretty much grown in why wont they say anything? Any advise

Err.. your dentist is blind get a second opinion. you could always get vanity braces to straighten your teeth.good luck!!

Reply:Mayve your teeth are god and don't need them. Be happy! Braces are NOT fun! But if you want to next time you go to the denist ask him about it.

Reply:Are your teeth straight? Braces aren't a fad. They are used to correct a misalignment of your teeth and/or jaw. Consider yourself lucky if you don't need them.
Reply:mabe they don't know yet because some dentiese can only know from when you ask them and sometimes when your teeth has no space.

not everybody has braces you might not even need them and they hurt for the first week cuz i have them now
Reply:well if you NEED braces you should get them soon because the older you get the longer you have them on. well a dentist doesn't have anything to do with braces you have to go to a orthodontics. the orthodontics decides about the braces stuff. If you want, you can ask your dentist if you need them, but he wouldn't do anything about it since, a orthodontics is the person who decides.
Reply:well normally dentists don't mention that sort of thing because it is a choice and they don't want to make you feel obligated to spend that money.





my advice would be to ask your parents and then talk to your dentist about it.


if the dentist is not specialized in orthodontry, then they will recomend you to someone who is.

Reply:i am 13 :) and i got braces when i was 10, when i was 11 they took them off, and in august they put them back on, i have always had straight teeth, but my mouth wouldnt close all the way.. :-| now it does..


They are probably not saying anything about your mouth or you needing braces, because you dont need them, are your teeth straight? or do you have gaps?


BTW.. go to an orthodontist, Not a dentist...
Reply:Why do you think you need them? I have braces and it really hurts. If you have a jaw or teeth you want moved, talk to your dentist about them. Also I've already had surgery on my mouth and may have to again, you probably don't want to go through this!
Reply:You should enjoy not having them they hurt sometimes and you cant always eat the food you want to but then again they will be really nice and straight at the end but don't wish you want them yet... they can be really annoying!

Reply:hey, i just got my braces off yesterday. next time you see your dentist ask him if your teeth look straight and growing in right. if or when you do get braces, follow everything they tell you. you dont want to waste any money. it doesnt hurt. the only time it hurt for me is when the tightened them one day. and getting them off is so fast and painless. but if your dentist says you dont need them. and you seriously think you need them. go to an orthodontist and get his advice. ph yeah and if you do get braces get them while your young!!! trust me.
Reply:With that I'm not sure. I chose myself that I wanted braces. (but the first orthodontist I went to gave me all sorts of weird contraptions.. trust me braces are better, %26amp; when its your choice... The names really can't bother you. Plus they have colored ones now! (at least the bands that hold the wires on)

Just check with the 'rents to be sure they can afford them.





Depending on the orto.. you may have tham on anywhere from 2-4 years. 9mine was 2.. but I also had to have 8 teeth yanked out of my head ALL at ONCE! (my wisdom teeth were growning in badly %26amp; I had to get 2 taken out off the top because my fangs could not grow down ()%26amp; the same 2 teeth were taken out at bottom)





So maybe they see something the ONLY WAY TO FIND OUT THE TRUE answer... is to ASK your dentist.

If you do have a concern about your teeth (crowding, or crooked teeth etc.) express your concerns to your dentist the next time you go.


If the dentist agrees that you have a problem, they will refer you to an Orthodontist.
Reply:Next time you go to the dentist ask if he thinks braces are needed? Braces cost alot of money and are sometimes painful plus some kids have to have as many as 8 teeth removed to make space. And then they might wear the brackets for 12-18 months or more. Maybe you just have a wonderful natural smile? Enjoy it and remember " teeth are jewels not tools" so take good care of them.

Reply:Go to an orthodontist. Ask him to take x-rays and molds of your mouth. He will tell you if you need them or not. No need to spend $5000 on something you don't need.
Reply:When you go to your dentist the next time or call the office to tell him you are interested in getting braces and if he/she can recommend someone in the area. That's what i did. and I'm in the process of improving my smile.
