Braces????

do people find people with braces attractive (yes im aware that the vast majority of people who have braces are under 18 and im also aware that most people answering will b over 18 so just bear with me)? cos i heard that people with braces have low self-esteem cos they see themselves as unattractive, is this true?

I am a really weird person... I had braces for 2 years, and I begged my dentist not to take them off... I didn't have low self esteem because of them... they dont change anything... would you rather have crooked teeth... or braces...... if you are that worried about it, they have alternatives, like spring retainers... it is a dental device that will strighten your teeth with out being there all the time... its basically like removable braces... go to your dentist and see what your options are... it depends alot upon your teeth

Reply:Yes many can have a low esteem but my son has taken it in stride and is doing great with braces. He has had 3 girlfriend this past year and now tells me a girl he was with a couple weeks ago thinks he is cute and smart etc so don't think that braces will hold you back because they sure haven't with my son.
Reply:ummm...I'm getting braces Monday and I can assure you I will have high self-esteem. I don't care what people think of how I look. All I care about is the fact that the braces will do their job and help my teeth be healthy. You should never not get braces just because you don't think you'll look attractive. The point is, they'll fix your teeth. I suggest if you're asking because you need braces that you get them. I mean, you can even get cool colours so they'll look awesome. Or, there's some new kind, I forget what they're called, invisibrace or something to that matter that are hardly noticable, well, except to you, of course. I don't know much about them but they do cost a bit more. I say if you need them, tho, just get them, that means they'll be over sooner, and your teeth will look better sooner. Either that or keep putting it off and end up with crooked teeth and look worse than you would with braces and then have to wear braces longer. Good luck with that. Hope this helped. ^_^
Reply:well it does happen with few people ! but i guess you should think of your look after the treatment done , i think that will help you to think the way you should think and afterall with crooked teeth or teeth with gaps would certainly be unattractive ! so think aboout your look after the treatment and i hope you wont feel low esteemed! nowadays there are so many aesthetically sound alternatives are available like invisalign so i hope you wont find having them unattractive!

i didnt like them at first but after a few days i got used to them and they dont give you low self-esteem


im looking forward to getting them off next year but part of me wants to keep them :-)
Reply:I don't think it is true. I have braces right now and I actually have a very high self-esteem because I lnow when I get them off my teeth will be straight. People with low self-esteem (that have braces) should remember that when you get them off your teeth will be straight!!!!!!
Reply:nope not true! I am 21 years old with braces, going into the university next year [i am finishing college now] and I LOVE how my teeth have progressed in the past year compared to how i looked before with overcrowded teeth! I get them off next year and I can't wait :) it's so worth it!
