Braces...?

In 2 days i'm getting braces.


When i went to the orthodontist a few weeks ago they told me how braces were put on.


They are different now..They put this thing over your teeth that already has the braces on it..then they peel it off and the braces are there..what i dont get is how do they work your teeth to where they are supposed to be? they said it was a painless procedure. I just dont get how they work without bands.

There are two ways to place braces - Direct and Indirect. The direct method is where the orthodontist places the braces one-by-one directly onto your teeth. The indirect method, as you described, is done partly in the lab and partly on you. When they took an impression of your teeth, they used it to pour up a plaster model. A technician and the orthodontist will then position the braces on the model very precisely. They are positioned so that when a wire is placed, the teeth will align. With the braces on the plaster model, another mold is made over the braces that holds the brackets. When you go in for your appointment, they will first prepare your teeth, then position the mold and brackets onto each arch. Once the glue hardens, the mold is removed and your braces are perfectly positioned.

your ortho must b talkin bout the ligaments( coloured parts )cus mine weren't like that.


as 4 how braces work:


archwire(wire) is a special wire that reacts 2 heat. the ortho fits the wire first then sets the wire with a uv light. everytime they shorten the wire it strains your teeth to pull them back into fabulous alinement!
Reply:i had the same thing done i got braces a month ago. its called sure smile and they put it on then peel it away and the brackets are left there they then put on the wire it takes like an hour and a half compared to 2 hours. After about 2 weeks they will do something sort of like x rays of your teeth they send the x rays to a company who invented sure smile in texas. they will take the x ray and make a custom made wire for your teeth which will make the process much faster it takes about 18 months until i get them off compared to 2 years of braces. And there isnt much pain..
