Braces?????

Im getting my braces in January but i dont want to. My mom is making me. Its not that im scared, its just i dont want to have to brush my teeth 10 times a day and wait 2-3 years to get them off. By then i wil be 17-18. Is it worth it if i dont even want them? Then after i take the braces off i have to get my teeth bleached or something like that. I have heard many pepole say that u cant kiss with braces, you cant eat alot of stuff.. I was wondering if u know a website that has all the myths about braces or whatever? Also, what was it like for you? { for the ppl that had them}

Braces?????
I just got my braces off after 2/1-2 years. It wasn't fun, but it's worth it! I now have a bright, straight smile, which is a far cry from where they were before the braces! You don't have to brush your teeth 10 times a day; just once in the morning and once at night. It's a good idea to swish out your mouth with water or to use a proxy brush (which your orthodontist will give you; it's a little brush that goes under your braces to poke the food out) after you eat. I didn't brush my teeth ten times a day, and my teeth were fine! All they had to do afterwards was scrape some of the extra cement off, and that didn't hurt hardly at all! I really don't think that you can't kiss with braces. You should probably sustain to closed mouth kissing, which can be hard for you if you are an experienced Frenchie (JK)! You can't eat a lot of stuff, but it's mostly sticky stuff. There is some hard stuff that you can't eat in big pieces, like carrots or apples, but you can still eat them if you cut them up small. Lastly, it is worth it to get braces, even if you're going to be 17. You don't want to go your whole life as a snaggletooth! Hope this helps!
Reply:DONT GET THEM !!!!!!

TRUST ME! THEY 'RE A PAIN IN THE *** TO CLEAN AND THEY WILL ONLY CUASE GRIEF !!!!

DONT GET EM !! Report It

Reply:CAUSE***** Report It

Reply:you really should get them because you don't need tobrush ten times a day just throuly. i have them and after a while you barely feel them they don't hurt and when you get them off you have a great smile and you probly don't needyou teeth bleached Report It

Reply:they are not worth the outcome. you could lose your teeth if you can't brush very well. Report It

Reply:I had braces for 2 1/2 years. At first, I hated them. They hurt! But, I am so glad that I got them. People really notice. And you really don't want nasty crooked teeth forever, especially when you get older. Yes, you can kiss!!! You can even kiss someone else with braces. No Problem. The only thing you have to cut back on is gum with sugar in it and hard sticky candy. The main problem I had was I would chew on my pens with my braces.. Weirdo... I know.. But, I broke the same bracket off twice! lol. Anyways, you'll be glad you got them, and it's really not that bad. Oh, and the lie about when you get your braces off, you'll have little boxes on your teeth... no true. Yes, you could get your teeth bleeched after you get them off, but you don't have to. Hey, if they're perfect and straight, they might as well be white too! Good luck! And get them, you'll be glad you did. I promise!
Reply:How do your teeth look now? If they are crooked I'd say braces are well worth it. Yes you do have to brush your teeth more than twice a day. If you take good care of them you won't need them bleached afterwards. There are certain foods you can't eat. You can kiss with braces. i went to my senior prom with braces and end of the night I kissed my date.

I didn't have a very good orthodontist so my braces experience wasn't that good. My parents later did their research for my brother and he had an excellent orthodontist.

Upside for me when it came to getting braces was that in the 3 years I had them, I lost 20 pounds because each time I got them tightened I couldnt' eat for 3 days.

Message me if you have any more questions.

Reply:I had braces for 2 1/2 years, and I didn't want them at first, either. I really didn't think my teeth were bad, and they weren't. There was just a teensy space in between my two front teeth. But, in hindsight, I am soooo glad I got them. If I didn't I might be self-conscious about my smile now. Having a straight, white, perfect smile is great, and it's honestly one of the first things I get complimented on. And, the bonus of getting braces when you're younger is that so many people have them, so it doesn't even matter (unless we're talking head gear, and then you might be self-conscious). Trust me, braces now may seem like they suck, but you'll get used to them, and you'll be so happy you got them now, instead of when you're 20 or 30, when no one else has them.

I also had to wear those rubber bands to get rid of a minor overbite, and those were annoying. They made my jaw ache, and you have to take them out and put on new ones every time you eat. Fortunately, I didn't have to wear those long. And, if you feel like making things more interesting, you can get the rubber bands in different colors (as opposed to clear) and you can also get the ones around the bracket in different colors (I was a school spirited cheerleading nerd and I got them in my school colors). And, once you get your retainer, you can do cool stuff with that too, like putting in pictures, or getting different colors swirled in. And no one notices b/c it's in the roof of your mouth. Anyway, it's one way to make a tedious process a little bit more fun.

I would recommend talking to your dentist/orthodontist about making sure your wisdom teeth are coming in straight, or have already come in. An x-ray can show this easily, if your wisdom teeth haven't come in. If not, they might push your teeth around after you get your braces off, and you'll have to get braces again. I'm sure your orthodontist will tell you about this at some point.

Brush regularly and take care of your teeth, and you shouldn't have any problems with discoloration. When I got my braces off, my teeth looked totally normal and white. Even if you didn't take care of your teeth and they're whiter where the brackets were, you can bleach your teeth with strips for a few weeks (Crest whitestrips work well--I use them now just to undo the effects of daily coffee consumption) or you can get your teeth professionally bleached, which is getting cheaper these days. I think you can get it done for about $100-something, and it lasts almost a year. If your parents can front the bill, it'd be a lot quicker than daily whitestrips for 2 weeks.

Just do it; you won't regret it. Honestly, you'll thank your parents big time later.
Reply:I haven't got my braces yet but gonna. Maybe this december! First, the orthodontist will take pictures of your face, xray your teeth, and mold (when molding my upper teeth, it makes me cough like crazy!!) %26lt;-- I've done all of that!

Putting braces on. Exactly what orthodontist do it (no big deal techniques). With pictures!!

Taking braces off after about 2 years (Your orthodontist will tell you how many years you will need it). Approximately how they do it (big secret.... how they really do it)...with pictures!!

Many people said you CAN'T eat candy, apple, chewing gum %26amp; somethings hard. Actually, you CAN but it will slow down ur orthodontic treatment.

Also, if you had your braces for too long (like 5 years), your teeth may get chipped!! But it will dissapear after around 5 days of brushing your teeth with fluoride toothpaste. If you don't brush your teeth with fluoride toothpaste, your saliva will heal it but it will take a lil longer.

Hope this helps!! GOOD LUCK!!
