Braces??????????????

How do they tighten braces? Is there a such thing as superultra tightening or something simular? Out of a scale of 1 to 10, tell me if braces hurt 1 being the least of pain and 10 being the worst amount of pain.

Braces??????????????
THE WIRES ARE CHANGED AND THERE IS SOMETIMES A TWIST OF THE WIRE WHICH CONNECTS THE BRACKET TO THE WIRE.

THE PAIN LEVEL IS A SUBJECTIVE BECAUSE WE ALL FEEL DIFFERENT LEVELS.

THE DISCOMFORT LAST ONLY A DAY OR TWO AND TYLENOL OR ADVIL CAN BE TAKEN.
Reply:fist few months it doesnt hurt a lot 2

later WOW 11
Reply:They tighten braces by replacing the arch wire and colored ties. They do not replace the arch wire every time though. When I had braces I had no tolerance for pain so to me the pain was about a 7.
Reply:All the tightening process is, is taking your current wire and color bands out, getting a new wire which the orthodontist might play with a little bit before putting in your mouth. Then they'll put wire on, and then snap the new color bands on. Doesn't take long and really doesn't hurt. It may sometimes hurt, especially if they put a C-chain on, which is hard to explain but it pulls your teeth closer together, so you'll sometimes have that. If any of that process hurts, the worst it would hurt I'd say is a 2 or 3. The thing that hurts is that night and maybe the next morning is your teeth hurt because they are moving some more. That pain would be a 4 or 5 maybe? I'd suggest taking a pain killer before the appointment. Good luck!
Reply:they might twist the back of your wire or change your wire . but after several months of visits, they work on your bite and they won`t adjust your wires as much . braces don`t really hurt that much . maybe i`d give it a 7 .
Reply:Some braces are different.

Some braces just need a simple screw with a tool to get the wire tightened.

Some other braces have their wires replaced.

They get tighter each time when they put heavier wires on.

We have different pain levels because everyone had a different amount of sensitivity to their teeth and gums.
Reply:Ok well they tighten brackets with a little twisting thing. I'm not sure what it is called tho, and no there is not such thing as "superultra tighting" or something simular! I've had braces for a year now and they do not hurt to be put on all they do is put this special glue on the tooth and add the wires and things, it's a little bit uncomfortable when they do this but it doesn't hurt much, probably on your scale 2/10, so it's not that bad but when you get them tightend it hurts a tiny bit when they twist it on to the bracket. It feels like your a bolt being screwed with a spanner so it's not that bad. about 1/2 hour after you get them tightened you get a little ache in all of your teeth and it's a little hard to eat hard crunchy things that your not supposted to eat with braces anyway. Most the people who get braces worry about if it will hurt or not. It won't it's just uncomfortable so don't worry and think about how Beautiful your smile will be when it's all over. Good Luck
