Braces!!!!!?

I have an under bite and I need braces. Do I have to get headgear and then braces?

Headgear is really uncommon these days, but it still depends on how bad the underbite is.


My bet is that you'll get the braces without the headgear. They'll also give you some rubber bands to put on your teeth to pull your jaw over. I very recently got my braces off, and the rubber bands worked great on my jaw. I have a feeling it'll be the same for you.


Even if you do get headgear, you probably only have to wear it at night. But don't stress. Chances are you won't even get the headgear.

Reply:idk but i had an overbite and dodn't need a head gear. now my braces are off and they look perfect.
Reply:i am 100% sure there will be no headgear involved. Feel a little more relieved now? Seriously though, you'll get braces, retainer later, if the underbite has to do with your jaw you may get some screws or inserts - but head gear is almost unheard of anymore. Good luck.
