Braces.......?

I have had my braces on for a year now, and my dentist estimated a year to a year and a half when I initially got them on. However, the majority of my problem lyed within my overbite, and I haven't even gotten rubber bands yet, they told me I will be getting them next month, but by doing reasearch over the net, i've confirmed my fears, because the results deemed that I would be in rubberbands for another one to two years.





I know asking my orthodonist would give me my most accurate answer, but, i'd like to hear other people's opinions, how much longer do you think I'll be in braces for?

I have braces and I had a severe overbite I recieved rubber bands six months ago and I am getting my braces off next week so I would say they estimated correctly. Good luck hope this helped
Reply:2-3 years that is the excat same thing that happened to me so i know from experince it kinda hurts too
Reply:i dont think it be that long. well depend on how bad your overbite is. i only had to wear them for like 6 months. but ask your orthodonist he should know

they're painful but worth it in the end.


I've never heard of anybody having to


wear the rubber bands for more than


a few months even if its an overbite.


The only thing the rubber bands do


is help align the top jaw and bottom


jaw.I never wore mine in public I


always just wore them when i slept


and took em out in the morning...


it hurts when you wake up but that way


you're still getting the benefits of them


and you're giving your mouth a break during


the day.Even though they said wear them during


the day too It just bugged me I always thought people


were like staring in my mouth when I spoke it was really


weird.But yeah I'm getting off topic Just wear them at night

Reply:I would say the most you need is another year but some orthodonist wants more money so they would make you keep them on forever to get more money out of you. My sister had her braces on for 6 years and my mother had to demand to get them off. Her teeth was perfect. The dentist just was psyho. My teacher told us that she had hers on for 20 years. I think you should request them off when you think you teeth is where you want them, and wear your container. Good Luck!!
Reply:i had braces from 2 to 5th grade and i got my rubber bands in 3 rd it just depends on your bite . thats all ask or ortho
Reply:i just got mine off after 1 1/2 years, but i still have an overbite because i never wore the damn bands, so i don't know what to tell ya. my sister had them for like 3 years, and she still has one too.
Reply:an overbite is not fully curable with braces, sometimes jaw surgery is needed





if your overbite feels smaller you might need only another half a year to a year. if your teeth are still in a big overbite you'll probably need them for another 1-2
